Morpeth
Friendly greeting from club pro.
Considering the amount of rain recently the course was very playable. Fairways in great condition, greens immaculate.
Friendly groundstaff too.
Will play again.
Cracking course in top notch condition.
I don't know whether it was since I was playing well (which always helps I guess) but today's round at Morpeth GC was fantastic. My Tee off was 2pm, the lad at the pro shop was really nice and let me tee off a bit earlier since I got there early to allow for traffic. The first thing I noticed was the wind was very fierce and going out the first three holes are into the teeth of the gales so playing very long, but when your hitting off beautifully presented tee boxes and crisp fairways you don't care. The rest of the course is beautiful too, with picturesque par 3's a gigantic 580 yard par 5 (downwind on this occasion) and lot's of changes in elevation so all in all a true test of golf. Fellow golfers and members were all nice and friendly too. Just wish I lived a bit closer since I'd love to join this wonderful club. Highly recommend to everyone!
Very friendly staff
Very friendly and helpful staff. Pleasant course. Back 9 more interesting than slightly repetitive front 9. Constant traffic noise unfortunate when I played. But a good experience overall.
Really enjoyed the course.
Really enjoyed our round. Undulating fairways but in great condition. Staff and other players really friendly.
Windy Challenge
Played this course twice and had my two best rounds so it's suits my game.Well maintained course with a few holes that are really challenging and the rest are difficult at best .
Cracking course
Well looked after course with some cracking hard and "easy" holes, a couple up and and down hill holes were brilliant for a new starter like me, club house was well looked after too, also food was a good solid 8/10 👌 👍🏻 I'll definitely be coming back!
Good course
Given we played in November the weather was lovely and the course was in good condition. We were told there was just the one winter green, turned out there were two and a few bunkers were staked
But all in all the course was great for winter. Temp tee boxes were quality good mats on a concrete base, wish our club had the intelligence to do similar. Only a slight hold up on the last 2 holes. Friendly staff in the club house with good food and excellent coffee. Would recommend Morpeth GC
Morpeth Golf Club .Playing off Mats
Some tees were on winter mats. All balls on fairways were either played from Semi or played off mats.
Winter golf at Morpeth
Course was in reasonable condition for the time of year with only one winter green in play. However, all eighteen holes were on winter tees some of which aren’t the best and might be too small and restrictive for the big hitters. Condition and speed of the greens was especially impressive considering the time of year. Pace of play wasn’t the best but we were waved through on the 9th and all was OK after that. Not sure why the bunkers were all classed as GUR for our round as they appeared to be perfectly playable, also not sure why play off fairway mats is currently stipulated – feels like the club is being a bit precious at the expense of visitors. Leafe cover in various places is currently a real nuisance – we had a couple of balls go missing under leaves whilst still on the fairway.
Nice change
First time playing Morpeth and we really enjoyed the experience. Pro was very helpful explaining the course winter rules etc. Nice tree lined course with a few trying holes and tee positions. Definitely play the course again as it is a lot more scenic than some courses in the surrounding area.
Fabulous and friendly
Lovely late autumn day around Morpeth golf course, fairways and tees in excellent condition, greens recently aerated readying for the winter, but still really good. Enjoyed it very much, pro shop very helpful and everyone I met was friendly and let me play through as a one ball when I caught them up. Will definitely be back.
Disappointing first time
I know it’s the end of Oct but the course seemed a bit rough. Every bunker was GUR but never saw any work getting done to them! Tee boxes were poor however the redeeming factor were the greens everyone rolled true and were about the only pleasure on the day. I will be back though next summer never had a chance to visit the club house so will make a point of doing so on my next visit.
Friendly golf club
Bit of work going on on the course but great for this time of year.
A good test of your golf skills
Course in good condition the greens ok for this time of the year not easy to read
