Longhirst Hall Hotel & Golf - The Lakes Course

Very good course, challenging in places, considering the weather course held up well,

Played the course Sunday. Apart from the walkways every other part of the course was like a pigs pen. Mud up to the top of your shoes but the weather was ok. One big issue was the lack of directional arrows between tees. We met several other golfers looking for various tee boxes so it wasn’t just us, needs to be addressed by the club ASAP.

Great course, very challenging but equally satisfying to play. For the time of year the course is in excellent condition. Nice and flat generally for the older golfer. I was only up here with work but will definitely play this course again if I’m up there again.

After all the bad weather, I was very surprised at how good the course was with only one winter green. Very much enjoyed today

Love the course layouts but the greens on this occasion where unplayable. The course was frozen solid which at this time of year is understandable but the greens had snow on that had frozen so impossible to putt on even if you could land the greens. Very disappointed that you still had to pay full price when the course should really of been closed

Played this course many times but today it should not have been open everywhere frozen solid. Not enjoyable in the slightest

As a former member here I always like to come back for a knock, given the name the lakes you should expect the drainage to be bang on, but unfortunately not and it’s starting to show signs of getting boggy again, I understand we’ve had a fair bit of rain lately and hence this is why I left as it’s always overplayed, it’s a shame as it has the potential to be a fantastic course, great in summer, but no winter golf here

Complementing the Dawson course this track offers plenty of water challenges but really playable without feeling nervous on every shot. Was very windy when we played which made many shots very interesting, ground was firm underneath and soft on top after plenty of recent rain. We love these great value courses and look forward to playing again next year.

I’ve played the Dawson Course many times but never the Lakes, mainly because I’d heard it’s too hard! It was a very intimidating course but if you can hit it okay off the tee it is very scorable in places. Really enjoyed every hole!

Ive played the lakes course a few times , always in great condition ..and very challenging...i decided to play the dawson course the same day ...again great condition
