Dawson course
Played this morning, course in fantastic condition, greens exceptional. Pace a little slow on front 9, but played through. Others players very helpful and friendly.
You have got to give this course a go. Not just drive and pitch, got to think, only used driver 3 times.
Will be going back, plan to try lakes course next.
Slow play spoiled the day
Played this course while on a weeks holiday with a friend. Unfortunately got stuck behind two 3-balls who clearly had hardly played before. The starter seemed friendly & did say those in front actually wanted to play as a 6-ball. We have no problem with that but let the guys behind you through when they are waiting on every shot! The course was dry & firm with quite good greens when we played in the last week of June. Some of the holes were varied and interesting with a fair bit of walking between greens & tees.Would probably play again but not if the six in front were to re-appear which was a shame as I played close to my handicap.
Potentially excellent new course
Lots of water: few bunkers. Avoid the ponds and it is not too difficult. Greens in very good condition but not easy to read. Quite long in parts but plenty of "risk and reward" par 4's. Will be super when it matures, I think.
1st time visitor
Booked as a last minute choice and was pleased we did. Course was in good condition as most are at this time of year. The greens were true while a bit slow.
We will return as it is good value.
don't play unless you have 6hrs
Played this course on Saturday 17/6/17, exceedingly slow play, I have played this course a few times and this is the second time myself and friend walked off, it took over 4 hrs to play 14 holes and couldn't take anymore and walked off. Tees not that great either. Will not be playing here ever again
great value at Longhirst.
Played on Sunday , tee off at 2.20ish. As I was on my own, I soon found myself stuck behind two four balls and a two ball.Bit of a bummer, but this was the only negative. Course in fine shape, amenities excellent, and, best of all, great value ( £13 ); Newbiggin were asking £25?!.Surely no one wants to see an idle Golf course? Anyway, I would recommend Longhirst to my friends, tho I would opine the Dawson is Slightly easier than the Lakes.
Dawson Course
Really enjoyed my game. Lots of rain before we played but greens were still firm and a good true roll. Hardly anyone on so did front 9 in 90 mins. Apart from the young lad in the pro shop needing to crack a smile, it was anot enjoyable day and will go back.
course in great nick
Played on the Dawson course and got to say for very late october the course was in great nick specially the greens which were better than alot we have played in the summer. We are not one for spending stupid amounts of money on golf and always look for bargains and on this occassion paying through tee off times we certainly got our money worth. Cracking course and a very good club house would certainly play again if they keep it at a decent price
Great course
First time on the Dawson course. Really enjoyed it. Great condition
Good out of season venue
In great condition late October. Greens especially true if not particularly rapid. (nothing like the practice green, thankfully ☺️)
A good strategic layout with decision making to be done on each tee. The right decisions can make to a very scoreable round.
Place to go
Excellent layout, condition and a loverly place to visit. Greens were very good and quick. Course was very well kept.
Long and challenging
Always seems to be windy. Challenging drives especially into the wind. Watch out for the lakes
Course in great condition
Challenging course with plenty of hazards. Distance markers are few and far between so difficult to judge distances at times without gps. Course is in really good condition.
Longhirst Dawson Course.
The course was in excellent condition and we thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon
