Typical Hotel course
Normally get driven up to 1st tee, which is a heart attack inducing climb, but not happening at present. Course lay out fine, greens quite bobbly, some heavily sanded, assume not much growth, due to lack of sunny weather. Viaduct signature hole is superb, a proper risk and reward hole.
Trending in the wrong direction
It’s a pretty local course to me, so I’ve played it a a few times over the last few years, and I think it’s getting worse. The greens were slow and bobbly, fairways were ok, Tee boxes were looking a bit tired in places too.
The rough was frustrating, left to grow wild resulting in long ball search parties, which I know from previous experience, is probably the reason for horribly slow pace of play.
The price is fair (£15 after work) but I do think the condition is getting worse, half the bunkers are GUR. Personally, I’d rather pay an extra £10 and play Bradford next door, but I appreciate everyone has their own budget.
Final point, the course is so long, it could be redesigned in the current footprint and easily be a 27 hole course. Would reduce the amount of nonsense rough as well... all in all, pretty average
Well worth a visit
Played this course for the second time and can’t wait to go back. The course is well maintained it’s very scenic and quite challenging. It’s quite hilly and the walk upto the 1st tee is a bit of a hike but in needed there is a the option of a courtesy drop off by buggy
Had a good day the course was in good shape but just let down by the greens which were quite slow and Woolley for this time of year, more like winter greens. Pace of play was very slow and at one point 4 group’s we’re bunched up on the 16th hole.
Nice layout
First time playing here. Fairways are spacious. Greens pretty good. Bunkers are ideally placed. Could do with some more distance markers. Will be playing again.
Great course
Played today for the first time, challenging but great course.
Excellent
Amazing course. Greens the best I have played on since golf restarted. Fairways were pristine. Will definitely return
Excellent course that I’ve returned to many times
Excellent course. Two groups let me play through. Solid condition.
It needs a cut !
A great course spoilt by the state of the greens. Lots of pitch marks on every hole not sorted and they need a cut and a roll.
Post lockdown round
Very windy day in early April (tough in wind as exposed with lots of elevated shots), only a week after courses had reopened in England. Conditioning was poor but perhaps understandable given course had been closed for 3 months and only just entering growing season. Greens not good, fairways needed a cut too. Shame not to play it in better conditions. Enjoyed back nine more than front. Pace of play ok for this type of course, was slow for our two-ball but at just over 4 hours with fourballs ahead I was fearing it could be worse.
A very long walk
Unfortunately had to wait on each tee 10 mins as each time we got to a new tee the group in front was still waiting to tee off. Took 5.30 hours to get round. Beautiful course in fabulous nick. Definitely get a buggy it’s a punishing walk. As the course is high up without any natural cover the wind is constant.
