Course Great but Pro Shop Not So
I booked a 1212 tee time with GolfNow - No problem. Arrived at course to be told our tee time had been bumped to 1430. No explanation. Ooops, Sorry. One of our team should have phoned to tell you. I told them no communication of any sort received. Shoulder shrug and begrudgingly said they could fit us in at 1300 when I said the three of us had travelled a long way to play. Asked what they expected us to do with the next 1.5 hours, they offered us a range token each for 25 balls (yeah right, like 25 balls is going to last that long.). We did the range and putting green (which is right by the first tee.) No-one appeared to turn up for the tee time before us so off we went. Course was great but we didn't see anyone behind us through the round so Lord knows how many empty tee times there were behind us (and we weren't particularly quick).
I have talked to members and others who have played here and they say it happens all the time. The course cancels and shifts tee times regularly to give the hotel guests priority. I would suggest you seriously consider this if you intend to play this course (especially if you have travelled a large distance to play)
I was unimpressed by the 'Am I Bothered' attitude in the Pro Shop and their wholly unacceptable attempt to make things right.
Excellent condition
Played this course on Sunday. It was busy but that did not affect play speed.
Greens in excellent condition as was the whole course.
Recommend using a buggy as very long and some hills
Would definitely play again and recommend
Great Course Layout
Had a really good day out playing here. Alot of doglegs and strategic holes which I liked, and forced you to not hit driver every hole. fairway condition was great and around the greens. The greens were a bit fluffy but very consistent and still had nice role. I think this was the best course i have played in the UK so far (being from overseas)
Great afternoon of golf
Excellent course
Well laid out
Greens ok for this time of year
Brilliant value for money with 2 or 3 picturesque Holes
Well worth a round
We played the course yesterday, unfortunately in pouring rain from start to finish. This will have done course a lot of good, as like most courses it was suffering without the precipitation.
The pace of play was good but there was a group playing a five- ball a few holes ahead who were slowing things down. Behind us were two golfers playing out of 1 bag which I thought was a no-no.
An incident occurred mid way through the round with the chap behind me nearly hitting a walker( there is public right of way through the course).. This resulted in a heated exchange between the two of them and I genuinely thought I would see a punch up!
In all this, where was the course marshall I ask?
A super course but not in the best condition unfortunately. Greens were heavily tined and very difficult to putt on but the layout of the course is excellent and a good test for all golfers.
3 ball
We played 18 holes most tee were closed due to the weather conditions . Great course would like to go back when the course dries out . The weather was perfect when we played.
Who Cares
Would have helped massively if the staff in the shop had advised that there were 2 temp greens that day.
Ruined the round really because they were both blind.
Neglect to do so created an air of ‘who cares’ and that’s what continued as the theme regarding condition of fairways tee boxes and greens.
Cheap as Chips but I see why - but advise re temps would have cost nothing- practice greens horrendous
Disappointed
Booked to play the Meon course, only to be told that it was temp greens and tees for the whole course. Was offered to play the valley course twice but feels a bit sneaky nothing being mentioned on the section on the golf now site, blame lies with club not communicating I believe
Meon valley
Very poor condition was all frozen and shouldn’t have been open. Yet again I’ve booked a teatime through yourself at golf now got the pro shop and they told me there was no teatime available for that time even though I’ve paid online already. They also tried charging me again even though I paid online using GolfNow app. This isn’t the first time this has happened where I’ve turned up and they’ve told me that teatime is not available therefore had to wait for their next available teatime and they tried to charge you again. I won’t be playing that course for a very long time after playing yesterday we walked off after three holes as the course wasn’t fit. It was all frozen and it was not safe to pay off the mats. Considering we had a four ball and paid a lot of money for the course condition,
Weather affected course condition
Great course in the summer but regret paying to play on this occasion. Looks great value for money (as has been in the past) but was dissapointed with the course conditions. Winter tees are to be expected but the major frustration was not being informed by either Golf Now at the time of booking or by the staff in the club shop that some holes had temporary greens. Walked off after hole 12 due to this reason and the groups in front taking an age to navigate the course who in would prevent us from finishing the round due to poor light. Will avoid this one until the summer
You moan about the attitude of the people who work there but then rate the staff friendliness as fair? Bit odd!
