Value for Money
Booked through Golfpass and deal was a lot less than club price. Very good and testing course, greens were a bit hairy and slow. Players met on course were very friendly and no issue with joining in with them
Fairways need a trim
Autumn weather lots of leaves and fallen bits of trees on greens, fairway grass was too long needs trimming. Mowers were out as we played which is probably why the price was cheaper than usual. All in all good value for a course that is quite nice to play in the spring/summer.
Would go back
First time playing Meon Valley and it's a great course and one I would recommend to friends or anyone and I would also go back myself, staff really friendly and a lovely set up as well.
Only negatives would be that areas of the fairways need some attention with little or no grass, the tee boxes are huge in length and then they are punished by the tee pegs being the width of the tee box so the grass is non existing instead of moving the tee pegs about more frequent.
The green side bunkers need some attention with alot if stones in them but they just need more sand and some love really, apart from that a great course and my dad and myself had a great time
Golf on sunday
Pace of play was slow and the course was understandably dry and scorched
Biggest problem was lack of etiquette from other golfers - not calling fire - nearly got hit three times whilst on our fairway!
Nice course great for low-mid handicap players
Had fun playing this course, a good course for low-mid handicap players.
Had to finish early due to a Society
We were appalled by the society in front of us and had to come off the course after 10 holes. It appeared they had no knowledge and rules of the game. Driving buggies over T Boxes and chasing each other in buggies. At one looking for a ball for over15 mins which slowed everyone down. Hence not being able to finish our game which took absolutely ages.
As ever we thoroughly enjoyed our game at the course.
We were welcomed and tee'd off earlier than booked and went round the course without being slowed at all. Around the greens was excellent whereas the fairways were suffering from the drought and extreme hot weather. Drinks after were welcomed.
Well worth it.
I’ve played Meon countless times, in fact, 20 years ago I was a member. We thought the course conditions were superb (however, they should be at this time of year!) the greens were true, but somewhat slower than expected. The only major downside were the bunkers - in fact they were more like mud traps than sand traps and in over 30 years of playing the game I have never seen more stones than in the Meon bunkers. My playing partner hit a hidden pebble below his ball in one bunker that was the size of a golf ball!! They need desperate attention.
