Golf @ Meon
The play was so slow, you had groups of 4-6 people just chatting and laugh on the tee boxes. The standard of the players in front of us were somewhat awful, we all have a bad hole, but they were churning up the turf, messing around on the greens and just holding things up. So many random people walking around, some even threw golf balls, what I imagine they had found, on to the green we were playing in to! I think I’ll stick to other courses in the future
Not my best round
Unfortunately not at my best today but that should not detract from the beauty of this course , colours of the trees squirrels darting around just a pleasure to play here.
Course was great but good was shocking and expensive
Great course considering the amount of rain recently.
Went for a sandwich before playing and was disgusted by the cost and quality. £4.50 for a small bowl of chips. £8 for cheese and ham toastie on standard thin bread. NOT GOOD
Great course but pain when booked through this app
This is my 5 time playing this course and on 3 occasions my t-time has been bumped to later time. This time it was changed 15:00 to 16:00 which meant I was unable to complete my round due to light. The course and green were in great condition and the the facilities are great. Shame they constantly move your t-times for members 😕
Worth playing
Lovely forest surroundings, some tee boxes were uneven but overall pretty nice. Couple of slow 4 balls in front but to be expected on a Friday afternoon.
Another round....Meon bound!
Another round here at the mighty Meon Valley, once again it was a pleasure to play, found plenty of trees, and bunkers between the 2 of us but enjoyed the course.
Yes it's in need of some TLC on the tees, but the greens are very good and Id rather it this way around!
Would benefit from the people who play here realising that a repaired pitch mark or a rake of sand goes a long way to helping those behind them enjoy the course more!
Keep up the good work out there... green keeping team,
What you're doing is starting to show a vast improvement on where this course was!
Cant fault
Brilliant course, excellent drainage on a somewhat wet day, friendly staff and lovely condition. Top tip buggies have to be prebooked in advance (do it early).
Sunday 18th August
Only got to play the front 9 even tho paid for 18 . It took 1hour and 20 minutes to play 4 holes . We rang the club reception saying there are 4 balls in front who was taking 10 shots to get on the green and the reply was nothing we can do , asked for a refund after 9 which took best part of 3 hours and was no we won’t be giving any refund and just one of those things disappointing to say the least , won’t be going back .
You need to play
This course was brilliant the greens were very true and a good pace around 8 to 9 on the speed fairways was also keeper in very good order and the ground staff marked out areas that was GUR overall a great place to play I would recommend and give it a 5 star rating
Good course, slow play
Very slow play took 5 hours to play a round late in the afternoon with some groups maybe having a bit too much fun up ahead. However, course layout and condition were great. Greens were awesome. Only downfall for the course we're some of tee boxes for the par 3's were destroyed! Despite the slow play, I would give the course another go.
It's getting better....
Course is definitely getting back to it's best in years, greens are superb, needs tidying up in a few places and this would be helped if people playing here, knew what a rake is and how to use one! Likewise with a pitch mark repairer, always have one in your pocket, not just for aesthetics but actually to use! Make an effort to repair at least yours, along with divots.....it makes for a better course, these are the basics, use them please.
Helpful pro shop, good driving range, and general practice facilities. Lovely peaceful course, surrounded by nature and a massive variety of trees. Some cracking holes, most differ from the last.....will be back soon.
Keep improving the place, it's really starting to get better.
Lovely course - Awful player experience
The course itself is lovely, fairly well maintained, challenging design/layout but completely unmonitored by staff.
As visitors (2-ball) trying a new course, myself and my friend were looking forward to trying out Meon Valley.
Firstly I went to the ProShop, to which my tee time (at the course) vs what I reserved on GolfNow, we're different, nearly 30min difference, why? The person in the ProShop said GolfNow don't update their system, as if it wasn't their problem?
We approached the first tee and the hole was completely clear, we set off on our merry way, finished the first hole and headed to the 2nd... that was the start of everything going wrong.
4-ball in front, 2 buggies, all of whom were behaving obnoxiously, driving recklessly, loud shouting, wouldn't allow us, as 2-ball, to play through, zero etiquette, and playing terribly. (All 4 of them must have shot over 140 each, I appreciate that we're all different skill levels but don't shoot 5-10 over on every hole and not allow a smaller & faster group to play through, basic golf etiquette). In the time it would take us to tee off and finish a hole, they hadn't finished teeing off, and we were stood waiting for them for 15-25 minutes every single hole from the 3rd. We called the pro shop and there was no answer, no-one available to enforce club rules or correct etiquette. It took nearly 5 hours for the round!!
As if that wasn't bad enough another 4-ball caught up behind us by the 14th tee, we told them that we've been stuck behind the group in front all day, its been painful, we're heavily backed up so expect a slower round from here onwards. They then proceeded to hit x3 drives into us on the 16th and x2 on the 17th (2 of which were very close to hitting us in the head) whilst we're waiting for the group in front to move so we could play our second shot... zero apologies or even acknowledgement that they had put us in danger!
The standard of player on this course is abysmal and beyond entitled. In 20+ years of playing I have never had an experience such as the one I have had today, undoubtedly the worst and least enjoyable round on a course in my entire life, completely ruined what would have otherwise been an enjoyable course.
The course staff need to get their house in order and enforce the rules and acceptable behaviour expected of the course, disgraceful!
Would I play there again? Yes, only if the course was empty or if people with genuine etiquette, was on it.
Wow......best it's been in years!
Been a couple of years, since I played here, as it had been massively neglected.
Took the risk on a good tee price and wow very big changes!
Greens were a delight to putt and play on, ball held well, nice and soft in recent rains! In general the course was really looking and playing well, even better than it was 10 years back. Fair bit of hidden litter in places too... possibly from some of the many dog walkers that go through the course in various areas and paths.
The bunkers were a bit wet but still playable, just a shame people don't have the respect to leave them neat and tidy after being in them, so you don't have to battle the foot prints and more, it takes seconds, same as repairing pitch marks....I'm sorry but of you can't care for the course you're playing then go to the driving range....then you'll not have the hassle of looking after
the course.
Members aren't too chatty....passed a few but no response to a hello or such! Tough gig I guess...
Worth a visit, I salute the green staff for the changes here....well done....
Also gents in the shop were pleasant to chat with....thanks all, I'll return soon.
Twilight round
Staff in pro shop were friendly, green fees were great value due to it being a late afternoon round. The course especially the greens were in great condition. I find the front nine a little plain but the back Nine I think is better. Overall I would recommend, nice course but there are others around I enjoy more.
Brums Review
Nice to be back. Great course played well and would recommend course for anyone.
