Oldham GC
Greens weren’t in great shape but good course nice layout mostly short and challenging holes. The 17th tee had the best tee box view I’ve ever seen. Will be a top course for the summer days greens in better condition, will certainly be coming back.
Good Considering Time of Year
I've played this course many times, usually in summer. It's usually in top condition, and the holes are interesting and challenging; especially the back 9 which is very hilly.
The course was in good condition considering we've only just left winter. And only 1 green was closed, with a temporary one in its place.
I'd recommend playing from mid Spring to Autumn if you can.
Would only hot deal it
Played this course for the first time. For the price on a hot deal is the only way I'd play it again. Course layout is slightly confusing, playing off winter tees that are in need of being replaced and the greens were horrible.
Members and staff were friendly and welcoming my only gripe was the greens and the winter tee mats.
Golf
Not to busy after 12pm..got round the course with no issues only problem would say the 17th is bad and you can't find your ball cos it plucks..
Amazing views but could do with some upgrades
This course has got unbelievable views of Manchester which are stunning. Unfortunately the course could do with being kept a little better. The tee off boxes were quite over grown and patchy when I went round.
Get what you pay for
£12 a round makes it really accessible but the divots on most greens puts me off going back. Many blind tee shots and marker posts in the wrong places makes it difficult to know where to aim, especially when playing it for the first time. Excellent price though and would be great for beginners. Very picturesque course too.
Rainy day out
Nice course , well kept and not too difficult. Very quiet when we went so no hold ups. Would definitely recommend.
Fantastic Little Course
Played here today for the first time. Brilliant little course. The greens were in fabulous condition. The course is challenging enough, but short enough to give you opportunities for birdies and pars. It does get hilly on the back 9, but gives fantastic views of Manchester when you’re at the top. Highly recommend for the price.
Wow. A tale of 2 halfs
Good length par 4s really give you a.chance.
Tight fairways are a good challenge.
Flattish front 9. Mountainous back 9
Great views over MCR
Friendly members offering assistance
Will return and make more use of the facilities in future
Possibly new club
Looking for a new club and this might just be it.
Present club is too busy for me. Too many comps. Oldham seems to be a lot more leisurely more to my liking with the odd comp here and there.
Played on Saturday around lunch time. Was pretty quiet even though the comp was still playing. No one in front and no one chasing behind. Course was a little wet which was to be expected after all the rain we just had. Will definitely be playing there again
Public access
Played twice here. Course is really good for the price. Tees a bit shabby but Greens and fairways are really good. One issue is that I played at 5pm and loads of kids and families on the course not playing golf but walking dogs and running around on the greens.
Oldham GC
Arrived at 8.45 in a group of 3 for 9am tee but pro-shop shut. Sign on first tee stated no woods can be used by visitors on that tee ?? Fairways were cut quite long and greens too were far too long and therefore extremely slow. Tee boxes were poorly maintained and several were difficult to find due to a lack of any signage.Bunkers had barely any sand and many had weeds growing in them. Far too many holes with a blind drive didn’t help with our enjoyment of the course either.
What made it all the more disappointing was the fact that from 10am that day the club was hosting a ladies open so am sure plenty of those players were disappointed with the state of the course on the day.
We will not be returning.
