OLDHAM GOLF CLUB ...
PLAYED IT WHEN COVIT19 WAS STILL ABOUT . ON ARRIVAL THERE WAS NOT ONE PERSON IN CHARGE ,IT WAS ALL SHUT UP ,NO TOILETS WELL ZERO TO BE HONEST ...WHICH WE THOUGHT VERY STRANGE OPEN TO ABUSE REALLY / COURSE IS ONLY SMALL BUT YOU HAVE TO BE ACCURATE OFF THE TEES . NOT FOR THE BIG HITTERS THIS COURSE BUT REALLY ENJOYED OUR DAY,
Good to be out golfing again
First time out for months and started with 4 pars!!! Almost like two courses in one with the second nine being very hilly and in my opinion too many blind holes. Coupled with the rough and the slope really easy to have balls disappear. Some really good fun holes though and accuracy is important. I’d happily play there again and know to keep left of most of the fairway markers To save some balls - and strokes.
Lockdown Golf
First time at Oldham. Flattish front eight then up onto the hill. Course generally in pretty good condition the exception being all bunkers GUR (presumably due to the current situation). Great views on the back nine. A course where local knowledge is a great benefit due to a number of blind shots. Overall good value and the few members we met were very friendly. Not a course for those who are uncomfortable with walking uphill.
Impressed
First time at Oldham and really impressed. Friendly welcome, with pointers to help us round. Tees clearly marked, fairways great condition and greens lovely. Few blind tees with signs to assist, we found it clear to make our way round. Will definitely be back. The views are fantastic.
Great day out
This course is in really good condition. It’s a short course, but it’s very hilly. You’ll feel like you’ve walked a long course. A couple of the par fours could be par five to me, there are no par fives. A few blind shots too, so bring plenty of balls. I’d recommend it and I’ll come back.
Tough climb on a windy day
The front 9 is a wide open flat parkland style course, very forgiving, greens and fairways are in ok condition.
The back 9 is a lot more challenging with steel slopes and blind tee shots. Great views.
Would play again but on a less windy day
Undulating with great views
Considering the wet conditions of late the course is in good condition. I am a beginner and i find the course perfect for me at this moment in time. The staff are friendly and helpful, as are other golfers that i have met whilst on the course.
Be prepared to walk uphill a lot!
Course was in great nick, well maintained. Good pace of play, I must have teed off around the same time as a elderly members, politely and willingly let me play through. Staff all friendly on the phone and in the professional shop.
The 9th was really daunting, despite it's short 281 yardage, it's steep uphill elevation makes it a challenge. The 17th went downhill from the top, to almost where I teed off on the 1st.
Will play here again, reccommend to anyone!
Short course but hilly & challenging
Played this course twice in a month & it doesn't disappoint. Excellent condition fairways & green, though tees a bit hard in places. First 6 or 7 holes flattish the come hill holes & a few blind flags & well protected greens. Not as easy as it first looks - you need to play it once to suss the layout.
Spectacular views from back nine.
Both times played the clubhouse was closed on our return (mid afternoons in midweek).
Members & staff we met all very friend!y & helpful.
Will play again, though may have to book direct as they have an issue over payments and online golf company.
Value for money golf
Only played nine holes some surface water about on fairways and ninth hole all uphill but enjoyed the round in believe the top half of the course is hilly but would play again everyone friendly and helpful it's good value for money golf
Technically brilliant
Technically brilliant And I mean that!!
Not a long course but so challenging!! Tight and unforgiving with fantastic green and great par 3s aswell as narrow fairway!!
Will defiantly improve your game!!!
