Ok for winter at least it’s all open
Its a very easy course with many scoreable holes but when other courses are on temps and mats in winter this course at least allows you to tee off grass and hit actual greens. Yes it’s a bit untidy and needs some TLC and maintenance but it’s fully open, reasonably priced, pleasant staff and you can get on easily. Don’t go thinking it’s Augusta as it’s nowhere near but go to keep your game going in winter and it’s decent. With one par 5 and around 4 really interesting holes it will keep you interested but it’s not a wow course for me, but in winter I’ll go every week to get a knock.
Owston Hall Golf Course
Lovely well maintained course. One of the best courses I have played in the winter. The ground was frozen along with the water hazards, so the ball traveled further and occasionally bounce off in an odd direction
Don't be put off by the reviews
After booking I came across a number of poor reviews which made me think I may end up regretting it. However, all three of us really enjoyed the course and found the condition to be above average for the time of year. Its pretty flat, the layout is good and some of the holes are really challenging. We'll definitely go back in the summer months to play it at its best.
Great layout and atmosphere
I played this course for the first time after looking at the layout and hole walkthroughs on the club website. It was a nice relaxed afternoon played at a steady pace as I'm just starting out.
The conditions were good, the course was well maintained and a few holes to keep you on your toes.
I'll definitely play here again.
Not bad considering the weather
Played off the whites makes it a bit more challenging. Not bad fairway conditions considering the rain. Greens very soft. Tee boxes terrible. Finished on +1 over (71)
The course isn’t easy with rough and obstacles in way
Would definitely recommend this course first time I have played it for years it’s better planned out well looked after and wasn’t expensive 😊
Great except for tees and greens
Really nice place, friendly staff, overall the course in good condition but unfortunately that can’t be said of the tees and greens…or most of them anyway.
Good course but not quite worth the money
Owston Hall
First time played considering time of year the course was in good condition the greens were in excellent condition
Good value for money
Buggies
The only problem I have is you can’t add a buggie when booking
Improving regularly!
I have been playing this course for over 2 years during its worst state to the now vastly improved course that it seems to be now,
Previously, the bunkers were non-existent in that they were full of weeds, rock hard and lacking in maintenance! however, they are now playable and well done to the green keepers.
On this topic the Greens are excellent and run very well- they are really good now and hope that they manage to keep the evil Crows/Ravens off the 4th Green amongst others! Likewise the fairways are colourful in that the swirl patterns contribute well to the look of the improved course maintenance.
.
Unfortunately, the Tees are in very poor condition throughout and need some attention. Either, manufacture another tee to run side by side or do something major with the ones that are in use! Presently they do let the course down and hopefully they will be sorted in due course.
Lastly, there is a dire need of signage, and the Pro is aware - hopefully, they are being ordered and will be installed shortly.
Keep up the good work.
Poor condition
Greens and fairways in poor condition and not the cheapest round. Won't be coming back.
Good course
Course was hard to find but I could blame my SatNav.
The layout was a bit boring for the first few holes.
We played at 9.12 and pretty much had the course to ourselves which was great.
When we got to the 10th the first tee looked to be getting congested.
The back 9 were much better. A very tricky 10th and some great holes.
Course was obviously very dry but the greens were decent. Enjoyed it. Thanks.
