An interesting course
First time here, really enjoyed it. We were made very welcome by the team at Park Wood. There was quite a bit of slow play - we were a 4-ball and we caught up a 2-ball in front of us! The course was in good condition apart from a few of the greens which were variable, bobbly and a bit bare in places. Having said that, we all agreed we would return in the future.
Poor pace of play
Went golfing as single and got stuck behind a pair playing very slowly on the 4th hole. I followed the pair, sometimes having to wait 10 mins on the tee box to wait to tee off whist they were looking for balls in the woods, and they didn’t let me play though. Very disappointed, and I left the round after hole 10 as I couldn’t stand to play the rest of the round at that snails pace
My experience
I really do like this course as the layout is very good and the views are amazing. Haven't played for a few years songave it a go, the greens need some tlc as patchy and wobbly but it really I'd a lovely course. Brought a friend who enjoyed itl too, greens improved I'd definitely up the ratings. Shame we also had a really slow 5 hour round but sometimes that's just the standard of groups in front.
Lovely course great value for money
Course in great condition but play very slow.
Overall the course was in great condition but the pace of play was very slow due to societies teeing off early and then all the tee times being filled afterwards. First par 3 had three groups waiting on tee box and it was forty minutes from finishing previous holes before teeing off on par 3 , other than that a lovely course great golf and even better company.
So slow
Park wood normally has a good pace and space on the course to spread out and cope with numbers. 3 hours for 9 holes is totally unacceptable at any course, 4 groups on a whole is ridiculous and not enjoyable. What’s more when we walked off at 9 there was no one on the first and the 10th was clear. Stop cramming and joining up GN booking to get more people on! Spread it out please!!
Nice course
Really enjoyed the course. Fairways and greens good but greens could do with more watering as very firm. Pace of play was slow but weather was great so didn’t mind too much. Very nice course and will play again.
Course was good but talk to the end started backing up apart from that it was a good 18 hole golf course with good amenities
Great Value for money
Really nice and great value for money for us as beginners
Much better second time
Faster pace of play than on previous visit, nice course
On a Saturday
5 hours to get round tee boixes need work everything else was good
Not bad for easily available pay as you play
Greens have been aerated and so very difficult to putt on as they’re uneven - a warning about this would have been helpful!
For £30 a round though there isn’t much else wrong with it, it’s a good easily available course kept in good enough condition considering the price.
Good course
Good course, ground maintenance in preparation for the summer meant that the course wasn't perfect but good for a round. Only downside was the large queue at the first few holes. We were triple stacked which meant at least a 15 minute wait at the tee box at each hole until the pace of play spaced the groups out.
Course conditions
The course was in a dreadful state , the greens was absolutely terrible, huge divots, if I'm honest the course was borderline playable. Obviously just charging alot of money for what that is. Especially when north downs and others do 18 and a buggy for half that price.
Cold February Round
It has rained plenty recently, and unfortunately the course was extremely wet, even though no rain on the day. To give the course management credit, all grass tees and greens were in play, with no temporary greens at all. Electric trolleys were permitted, which was helpful. This course obviously doesn’t drain that well, but I have experienced many course that would not have opened under the conditions.
I will revisit under drier conditions, as the course layout was enjoyable. My playing partner son shot 80, which was remarkable given the conditions, but his decent short game was helped by most of his approach shots sitting precisely where they landed on the greens.
Give the course a chance, you won’t be disappointed, but perhaps wait until the ground firms up a little.
8 holes were closed today
It was totally disappointing because almost half of holes were closed but I paid full. I think they should have informed their customers in advance. It is ridiculous to pay full even though 8 holes out of 18 holes were closed.
Don’t go in winter
Only paid £15 for this however still was not worth the visit.
Course was in terrible condition - fairways was mud and greens moved as you walked on it. Hasn’t rained for a week so didn’t expect it to be that bad.
The cost was only £15 so I guess you get what you pay for however when we check it they don’t tell us HALF the course was shut! So after the 1st hole we had no idea where to go as there were no signs as the 2nd to 9th holes were closed.
I can imaging the course being decent in the summer but def be avoiding in the winter.
Course in good condition for winter.
Played Park Wood on Tuesday and was impressed with the condition of the course for winter. Greens firm and very payable, the fairways also firm with few waterlogged areas. Some bunkers had standing water but expected due the amount of rain we have had recently.
I was surprised the course was not busier, Park Wood is quite challenging, but a good challenge for golfers of all abilities.
I would recommend this course both for winter and summer.
Avoid at weekends during the winter.
Played 10 holes on Saturday which took three hours to complete. Pace of play terrible on some holes we were the fourth group waiting to tee off. We gave up after 10nas there was no way we would get round before dark. Very disappointing.
