Not ideal conditions.
Price was £12 for a reason, only 10 holes playable as recent floods have left lying water which was frozen on the day. Had to play off fairway mats which the club shop lent to us, still had a good couple of hours, just wish these conditions were made clear to us before booking but will definitely go back to this course when weather improves.
Confusing Layout and Slow Play due to close Tee Times
Average course, layout a little confusing from 4th to 5th and a few other places. Very slow play as they have reduced the tee times to get more players on in the short winter day light so constantly waiting on groups in front. Off course amenities were very dated and needed modernising. Tricky to get to off the A64 if heading towards Leeds. The major saving grace was it was only £11.99 though Golf Now which made up for things.
Waste of money
Tee off was 11.30 but two 3 balls yet to tee off at that time meaning a huge delay, stuffy course with vaping pro club worker there to greet you with a puff of smoke, pleased this last minute round only cost £11 never again if it’s not flooded it takes 7 hours to go round as backs up or you expect at least an hour delay.
I actually like this course but will not be returning much better courses nearby
18 Holes at Pike Hills after extreme downpour the previous day
I played 18 holes at Pike Hills after an extreme downpour the previous day. I had planned in advance to use the time to play golf. But most courses had closed so i went to pike hills and found the course not only open but also mostly completely dry. There were a few places with standing water, but the fact it has a large woodland in the middle, meant it had soaked up all the water and the course was bone dry in most places. Fantastic course, even during winter (A bit easier from the winter mats but great for a beginner like me). Lots of friendly groundsmen who smile, stop what they’re doing when they see you taking a shot so not to distract you and one even gave me a few balls after seeing me looking for one i had hit into the leaves.
Good value.
Very good course to play, especially for the price. Will definitely return when weather improves.
Nice Course
Pike Hills course is nice easy to walk well kept course, spoilt only by constant traffic noise
Very Impressed for the price
Didn’t know what to expect when I booked it given the price.
Played off winter tees, course was still in very good nick for the time of year. Fairways were rolling out nicely. Greens well maintained.
Very impressed. Will return
An Enjoyable Day
Accompanied my son on a hot deal - £17.99 each which we thought was good value. Hardly anyone else on the course when we played accompanied by a very friendly and pleasant Icelandic lady who had joined us through Golf Now. The course was in pretty good condition despite the rain we had over the previous few days. An interesting and quirky layout. On the basis that you can get the ball off the tee down the fairway then a lot of the holes are pretty straightforward. Very much risk/reward however and it would be very easy to rack up a double bogey after a poor tee shot. Some very interesting holes on the back 9 and particularly enjoyed 16-18 the last being an excellent finishing hole. Would certainly visit again albeit what attracted me in the first instance was the cost of the green fees. Would play a lot more of these courses if the green fees were pegged at a sensible rate day max £25 and am sure there are others who feel the same as me.
Debs & Ricardo on Tour
Loved the course at Pike Hills. Great course and nice layout. Slightly let down by noise from the road. The Greens had beeen cored and top dressed recently which made for inconsistent greens.
Despite all this. We loved the course .
Really Good
Very interesting course in good condition with really good (quick) true greens. Well worth a visit👍
Great Course - Highly Recommended- and possibly the best breakfast I have ever had.
Great course, very undulating, with very interesting holes.
Went with a Buggy 1st time round which was like new, 2nd time round we walked and by hole 14 I wished we had taken a buggy again. Lots of hills to play with.
Played here twice within two weeks. I enjoyed it so much the 1st time, I brough a 4 ball back with me the following week.
Found the greens to be particularly challenging, especially the 2nd time round as the greens were a lot drier and faster.
Club house and Pro shop are well presented. Plenty of stock in the Pro Shop.
Special mention to the chef Paul, who provided one of the best full breakfasts we have had for a long time and at great price too. All locally sourced produce, its definitely worth building that into your visit if you like a breakfast, you won't be disappointed.
Great Course
This was a very good course for the money. Challenging in places with some tough holes, but a great test. Fairways are tight and greens are undulating.
Great
Fab course, tee boxes and greens were fab.
Will def play again
Amazing value
Played in lovely weather and the course was in great condition. There are shades of York GC (Strensall) here with several similar holes and ‘feel’. The green fees are very reasonable and the hot deal was a steal. It’s no wonder there are so many great reviews on this site. Don’t let the relatively low fees fool you- this is a very nice course. The only possible downside for other (low handicap) players is some holes are quite short which may let the course down a little but for everyone else it’s highly recommended.
Summer conditions
Rained heavily on arrival but course held up well , greens a little slow but also wet , friendly staff and a good friendly greeting from pro shop on arrival
Enjoyable Course
Not a long course but challenging. Quite a few narrow fairways and lots of doglegs so you have to position well to score low
