Great course in season

I have not played the course for a number of years however despite the strong breeze I enjoyed it immensely. Despite its fairly easy classification by England golf it is a fair test at the moment with the OOB and length of rough if you are not straight. It's a beautiful setting and the greens were extremely good despite this year's appalling weather. I hope to play the course more often.

Great course

What a great course to play at. Great layout with some difficult holes and some great scoring holes. The course was in good condition considering all the rain over winter plus the freeze we had this week. Would recommend highly

A Little Muddy and Noisy

First time playing here, met by friendly staff in the pro shop. Driving range was ok for a warm up but can’t really hit driver due to short length. It was a little muddy on the fairways and a lot of leaves but I guess expected for October. Not a bad course but the A64 and road next to the course are very noisy. Greens were well maintained and no temporary’s. Couple of challenging holes like a Par 3 with a tree in the middle. Air guns were not powerful enough to clean the mud off the trolley wheels. Went for a beer in the clubhouse afterwards, bar tender was not very smiley, only a couple of people in the bar. Halfway house was well stocked, would have been nice to see some beers there. Overall not bad and I am sure it’s better at its prime in summer but that road noise could be even worse.

A day to remember (Thankfully)

It is very difficult to rate the course as I was only able to play the first 2 holes. But I feel it is important I make my review to compliment the way that staff on duty responded following my having a heart attack on the second hole.

They were quite simply superb, if the course is as good as the care I received from the staff it will be excellent.

Thankfully in time, I am looking forward to returning and experiencing the complete 18 holes.

Nice course but traffic noise.

It's actually a really nice course in excellent condition but for someone who is used to playing in a tranquil countryside environment, I found the traffic noise was terrible.

It is also a bit hilly but the name does indicate that and surprisingly I wasn't that tired after completing 18 holes.

Short course and great greens

Course a little short but tree lines make it challenging off the tee, especially as many blind tee shots.

Greens in great condition.

Would benefit from a hole map in the tees, or card so you can see the hidden bunkers etc,

Especially as this was my first round at Pike hills for 30 years..

Overall great value and a friendly welcome.

Mark Holliday

Well located and interesting course in good condition. The last 3 holes criss cross each other which is unfortunate but overall its good. Cost 27.99 is significantly above what I've paid in past and for me what's its worth. £20-£25"is a fair price in my opinion. There is a lot of excellent alternatives in and around york.
