Staining Lodge Golf Course

Played 05/09/2021 at 11:30. Booked online for only £14 so wasnt expecting much but I was wrong. Some of the fastest greens I've played and very wide fairways which were all very well kept.

Great outdoor seating area to enjoy a pint watching over the 10th tee and 18th green after your round.

Highly recommend!

Very good quality course.

Fairways nice and wide would prefer there to be longer rough for it to be more challenging.

Layout is very nice and picturesque.

However the greens r not very receptive and wjen playing make sure to club down to account for this

Although the course is open and allows for less accurancy off the tee, the difficult greens balance out the course and make it a challenge for all level of player.

Play staining regularly as a local but enjoy switching courses week to week, generally not any issues. Great staff, good and well maintained course and great facilities.

However this afternoon we saw a 6 ball teeing off as we were finishing up the front 9. A guy and his son asking if we were finishing after 9 so they could jump on the back 9 with the prospect of sitting behind a 6 ball troop. And then got stuck behind a 5 ball from the 11th who were not only slow (as you would expect) but also were sharing clubs making it even worse. Painful round stuck behind these guys. Screwed 4 or 5 groups stuck behind them trying to beat the sunset as the nights draw in. One pair gave up, another with a buggy circled back and played from the 10th again and the third set just sat back from us and I assume gave up also as we're nowhere to be seen as we crawled along the 17th and 18th.

A little disappointed to see this as usually a great course and good pace. Hope the team can tighten up on this kind of play. By no means a great golfer myself, but appreciate the ability to get around the course in under 4.5-5 hours!!!

After a week of rain it was great to see that the course drained really well. Greens were consistent and a good pace. 2nd round here and will be booking again.

Nice sunny day, fairways dry and running fast,greens in excellent condition and very true.Nice couple of pints of Warstiener afterwards! A great course in dry conditions.

This was the 3rd visit and everything was A class all round

Greens were consistent, fairways were wide and well cut, great course with a few challenges around it to catch out a wayward tee shot. Will definitely be playing again.

Worth a visit to staining. It’s not a long course abs the SI of holes is questionable (especially the 18th) but thoroughly enjoyable mix of challenging holes. Certainly worth the £72 for a four ball. Clubhouse is very modern and some lovely seating outside for an after round drink. Overall I would definitely visit staining again as I think it has it challenges, it’s not a championship standard in terms of greens etc, but VFM I think it’s excellent

Good course, I’ve played a few times now, pace of play was slow on this occasion but otherwise enjoyed the round.

Played this course for first time at short notice. Staff were extremely helpful and we were made to feel most welcome by both staff and members. Course was in great condition though greens were very fast as expected due to sustained period of dry weather. Course was on the whole flat and open which made for enjoyable golf. Would definitely play this course again

First visit to Staining on a very warm and bright day! Overall course was in excellent condition, with greens and fairways being the best played on this year!!

Whilst it is not as challenging as I would prefer, it provides adequate opportunities for the average player to excel in their performance and walk off the 18th with a smile on their face. Overall, a very pleasing course with ample facilities for a well earned drop of refreshment after play.

Overall a very pleasing day out with every intention of a return with other fellow golfers!

Enjoyable course, though greens had been dressed recently, so slightly bumpy and slow. Fairways a little ragged, but no really bad lies anywhere. Was drawn with a couple of guys for the time slot, and had a very enjoyable round with them. Did not use off-course amenities, so did not rate them. Looked like a nice clubhouse though.

The course was in good condition. Some of the tee beds could do with tidying up and the greens needed a cut so were slow, this could also be due to some of them having been dressed. Some of the distance markers on the fairways to the greens didn’t seem very accurate as my playing partners had GPS watches which differed from the fairway markers. The staff in the shop and restaurant/bar were helpful and friendly.

On the whole I would recommend Staining GC as a good course to play at a reasonable price.
