Decent enough

Maintenance work scheduled, but didn’t affect us. We were advised on GolfNow before booking.

We booked as a 2-ball, but the 2-ball in front asked if we could play together. Had a good round overall with Keith and Bryn even if I did slow the pace (but we let the following group play through us).

Every time I have played the course it’s been a great day, the members are always pleasant and welcoming. The same goes for the greens staff.

Poor Layout

You start at the top of a hill and zig zag down, meaning every fairway is tilted to the left or the right. You are also playing along side the other holes so it is tight. The course opens up a bit and becomes playable. Then you finish with some terrible holes. The 18th being up on a ledge, with a tiny green. Don't bother with this course, there is far better in the area.

Wet and windy at Consett

Course currently in very good condition - wind & rain made play a bit difficult during our visit as parts of the course are quite exposed to the elements - for anyone that hasn't played Consett before its worth a visit if you are up for a challenge and the views out over the North Pennines are spectacular - the course is tough in places (especially the aptly named Heartbreak Hill) with bogey often feeling like a reasonable score on some of the long par 4 holes but there are scoring opportunities for the thinking player when you are familiar with the course.

Decent course

Decent course for the area, but we found some of the greens could do with a little bit more sun on them.

This wouldn’t stop us from returning though.

Stunning golf course

We played Consett a number of times over the last 20 years and every time we visit it is a treat. I it is always in pristine condition overall—-greens, tee boxes, fairways and the bunkers have good amount and texture of sand. The scenery surrounding the course is truly stunning. The layout is challenging and yet not gruelling. I consider Consett to be one of the best course in Durham county or perhaps the best.

I take it you haven't played any other courses in Durham then?

Sunny ideal day.

We played on this well maintained course, using winter mats as requested.. A fantastic sunny day and a great game on the very quiet course. Only saw one deer today. The fairways where quite well drained and the greens were in very good condition.

Very reasonable hot spot deal and will certainly return.

The hills were certainly a work out and pleasantly challenging.

Totally enjoyed it

Deliverance!

Unfortunately the weather conspired against us with gale force winds and rain but we all managed to get round in one piece. The course is in relatively good condition considering the recent battering that it has sustained from the weather with the back nine standing up a bit better than the front nine which is a bit boggy in places. The run back up the hill from the 14th was utterly savage with wind speeds peaking at 60mph - post match pint in the club house was well earned by all concerned! 🤪

Love this course!

I had a great round at Consett today. Arrived and went into the pro shop where I received a nice welcome and was told I could get myself out as soon as I was ready as the course was quiet.

The course itself was impressive considering the weather we’ve had recently, there were two temporary greens which was totally understandable and was well communicated beforehand in the shop but also on the app at the time of booking.

Overall I was really impressed. The layout is fantastic, some really, really nice holes.

Couldn’t really fault it at this time of year. Will definitely be back again

Lovely course and great value for money.

Was looking for a round on a Friday night and loaded up golf now. Stumbled across Consett at £13.99 so took a punt. Yeah it was winter conditions so the course was shortened down but that’s to be expected at this time of year and the price reflected that (think many others courses could take a leaf out of Consett’s book). However, most holes were still a good length. Course was spot on and the greens were nice and tidy and running well. Staff were very friendly upon arrival as well. Will definitely be returning!

Gem of a course

After being recommended this course I went to give it a try, I payed £12 to play it and it was probably the best£12 I’ve spent to play a golf course, the layout was great and although it was winter conditions and the course was shortened playing off forward tees, fairways were immaculate with having to play off mats or just off fairway, greens were firm and pacy, views from course were great and with a deer on course and bird of prey overhead, what more could you want for £12, only disappointment was I didn’t have time to call into clubhouse, but I’ll be back next week with a couple of friends to play it again.
