Stocksfield Monday 11am
Behind senior 4 balls very slow but understandable, will check next time. Played 2 ball course a few greens unplayable as being repaired. Roped areas a bit unclear as to directions. However as ever great course challenging front 9 , easier back 9.
Everyone very helpful and refreshments menu after golf excellent quality.
In conclusion don’t get behind 3 groups of 4 ball seniors on a Monday morning. Be aware about 3 greens unplayable as repair for drainage not knitted together yet. Enjoyed with weather outstanding. If you have not played course it is a must, if you have in the past course condition of course will disappoint you. Booked on line via golf pass £18 per head good value.
Golf
First time playing at stocksfield , very helpful before we started , pace of play was good , and the course was in excellent condition , will recommend to my friends for the future .
Fantastic - thanks
Took advantage of a dry day to play at Stocksfield. A lovely pre-Christmas round. All staff very friendly and helpful and course in wonderful condition. A couple of winter greens but that wasn’t an issue. Course much drier than we could have hoped for given the amount of rain over the last couple of weeks. Really enjoyed it. Thanks
SLOW PLAY . AND ETIQUETTE BAD
2nice players let me start before them but got stuck behind 2 older male members . They were all over the course and had at least 6 chances from the start to let me through. I waited on every tee box or hung back to give them a chance but they were very bad mannered and let me wait which totally spoilt my overall game which cost me £25. Something must be done or said to members and visitors about this as this is not the first time I’ve had to write a review like this
IF THIS PERSISTS PEOPLE WILL STOP PLAYING THE COURSE WHICH WOULD BE A REAL PITY AS ITS A GOOD COURSE SPOILT
Hidden gem
This course is quite challenging with front 9 holes being very tight then opening up for the back nine. Quite a few hills so felt like we had a good walk.
Clubhouse on finishing was very pleasant with good food and drinks. Everyone very friendly.
Good course
Fun and challenging course, friendly staff and great clubhouse for food and drink afterwards
Great course
lovely course very tight would highly recommend
in great condition one of the best course around
Newcastle
Early morning round
This was a last minute decision and I’m glad I made it. Course in great condition - fairways like carpets. Greens were quick and true. Course etiquette of visitors and members excellent. Really enjoyed my round.
10/10 would play again

1st round this year
One of the best opening holes iv played, with all the rain over the past 6 month i was expecting it to be boggy in places as played here in the past, yet seems like work has been done to counter this,(well done to the groundsmen,),front 9 slightly tougher, tree lined and tight but you can open up on back 9 as fairly open and larger faireays
Glorious Evening Golf
Fantastic way to end a busy work week. Booked at the last minute and folks at the club could not have been more understanding or welcoming. Lovely friendly club. Course very quiet but everyone very friendly. Beautiful weather and course in fantastic condition. Really enjoyed my round.
Course maintenance needs a major overhaul
We have been playing Stocksfield for circa 10 years and have sadly watched various aspects of the course steadily decline - especially recently. 4 No. greens on the back 9 have been re-laid and the results are quite poor - the greens should probably be closed for remedial attention. The trees on the front 9 urgently need a trim to reduce infringement on play which is steadily becoming more and more frustrating for visitors. Also the intermediate rough is being left far to long in some areas which is causing further frustration for players. I suspect that the looming specter of house building on the course might be taking it's inevitable toll on the club's day to day activities and plans for the future.
Stocksfield Visitors
Course was virtually empty due to weather conditions.
A long time since I had played but as enjoyable as I had remembered. Great front nine - back a little less so. Course was sodden given weather but still playable and much in very good condition.
Be patient with slow play
Very good course and kept well. The only problem is slow play causing back up and frustration at times . Got to be as patient as you can without ruining your momentum. If players would respect their fellow players it would be a lot better and play would flow. .if they know where the next tee box is why oh why do they leave their trolleys where they have to walk back to to leave the hole.
Disappointed this time
First nine holes were closed due to course being water logged
Was not made clear on booking or course . As a visitor l. was just expected to know this . This held you up and some of the members were purposely playing slow leaving their clubs on the fairway and walking back to get them and mar king cards on the green etc . Have put would recommend because I have had good times here but some of the members need to be instructed to play properly.
