Garesfield Golf Club

Course was in fairly good condition considering the heavy rain that it received the day before with only a few areas of grass that need some attention to bring them up to full summer season condition. The most significant issue that we encountered was very slow play by a three ball up ahead of us that had several groups including ourselves backed up behind them from start to finish - considering the fact that all of them were well under the age of thirty they should be somewhat embarrassed that they had the over fifty's standing waiting for them (and out distancing them) on every hole....

The course is long and hilly so be prepared for that if you’re visiting. If you can’t handle the hills get a buggy or don’t turn up. The pace of play was the outright worst I have ever experienced on a golf course. 2 groups waiting to tee off on every hole. By the time we got to the 13th there was 3 groups waiting to tee off, at this point we walked off the course. The course itself was in great condition.

Good value, great views, nice layout, but can be hard on the legs!

One or two great holes and a couple of iffy ones!

But well worth a visit.

Booked late - never a problem at Garesfield. As always a lovely welcome from all at the club. Course in wonderful condition. The autumn colours are truly magnificent on this course. It feels like every tree has a different colour. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the 13th is one of my favourite golf holes in the NE England. Really enjoyed my afternoon. Highly recommend this course.

Lovely course with some great views and challenging holes. Course in good condition considering the weather recently. Good pace of play as well.

Fully enjoyed my round. Great mix of holes, lots of blind approach shots that certainly give you a good test. Great layout, a few decent sized hills but I don’t mind that, gives you a good workout

Enjoyed a round at Garesfield golf course in windy conditions.. course was dry due to recent weather and a few of the greens required some attention. Overall a good few hours spent being challenged by wind, layout, length and various gradients of the course. Will definitely return

Usually love this course, always really quiet so easy to get a tee time and get round, it’s a challenging round and always really friendly staff and groundskeepers! The course is usually in a fantastic condition.

However today I am somewhat disappointed in the course conditions, a lot of the fairways are absolutely bone dry and in a lot of areas it was like playing off gravel which meant it was difficult to keep an accurate score. The greens which are usually in fantastic condition were in several places full of divots, and the fairways themselves, if not totally devoid of grass, were unusually uncut in several areas.

I understand that we cannot help the weather and lack of rain hasn’t helped but I think charging full green fees when the course is in a bad condition is not correct, perhaps a discount could be applied until the course conditions are improved.

Still a good round, love the course layout and staff and members are always lovely and welcoming. But will be avoiding for now until the course conditions are somewhat improved.

Great course with great holes, could do with a bit of a tidy up with some of the fairways, greens and surroundings but great round of golf, some tough holes and local knowledge comes in useful

Lovely well maintained course. Some greens are significantly higher or lower than your approach shot. Some blind shots and some holes where you need to think carefully about what shot you’re playing. Enjoyed the whole 18. Will definitely be back.

Originally many years ago this was a 9 hole course . It was extended downhill through mature woodland . So it’s like playing two different courses as you go around with two sets of challenges. Never boring.

Pace of play great, very few golfers on course, weather was very hot. Let's of run on fairways, greens in goes nic, thoroughly enjoyed it.

Steep hills !! Not a course for those who have problems with health and fitness, I honestly have done easier hikes in tge peak district than playing a round on this course. That said the course is good, views are good and its a fair challenge. Worth the money.

First time playing, booked early T time on Sunday. Lovely layout, views and walk. Left a little disappointed by the quality of the greens considering the good weather we have had. Very inconsistent, some with disease, and poorly cut. Not worth £30 in that condition. Staff great & clubhouse.
