Great day
We had a great day playing in a four-ball at stocksfield.the course was in brilliant condition and to top it off the weather was brilliant allowing us to see right across the Tyne valley.the course is not the longest but still quite challenging some tight holes in the front 9 and on the back 9 it opens up allowing you to play a bit more aggressively.staff are very friendly at the clubhouse and bar.all all a great day and will definitely be returning.
2 for the price of 1 - Great value
Lovely front nine , short but tight with wooded tree line fairways - 9th hole vista is amazing.
back nine more of a parkland feel. greens and fairways were in great condition.
Pretty course, in good condition.
Arrived on a fine day in June having paid the bargain price of £13. Bacon sandwich ordered around 9.15am, hard to get one these days before 11am unless your a visiting party! Coffee was fairly naff, like most golf clubs who won't invest in a decent machine.
The course was in good Nick, good greens and well kempt bunkers. Nice and quiet out on the course as it's well away from any traffic noise or industries.
Highly recommended, you won't be disappointed.
The greens were in very good condition
We were welcomed in the pro shop
Enjoyed the course
And relished food afterwards
The only downside was my wife beat me
First time I've played here in about 4 years, my game was terrible, only 18 Stableford points, wayward driving on the front 9 punishes you. I always found my ball, that does help keep your spirits up if you are playing poorly here.
Fantastic weather and a course in great condition, with very true greens that rewarded bravery on them.
Will definitely return in the future, clubhouse facilities and staff all first class.
Great Value - course in excellent condition
Greens were in lovely condition and hardly anyone on the course (Thursday tea time). Despite the front nine being heavily wooded, you can usually find your ball if you miss the fairway off the tee. Accurate tee shots gives you a good chance to score well.
This was only the second time I have played this course, the first was time was about six years ago so I could not remember most of the course. It is a nice course with a few challenging holes for those who lack consistency. The staff are friendly and helpful.
Stocksfield
Absolutely perfect golf course, greens were one of the best I have seen this year, they were fast but in amazing condition, 4 ball in front very slow, however they walked off after 9 holes.
But an amazing course and definitely well worth playing and will be definitely coming to play it myself, the 9th hole has to be one of the most fabulous holes ever, the view is stunning, but it will bite you if you stray left or right!
Great but tricky
The course itself is immaculately kept! My step dad has played in Hertfordshire when he was younger and said the greens here were the best he has ever played on! Also the front 9 is tree lined, but again this area is well maintained so it's easy to find a wayward tee shot compared to most courses.
The only down side to this course is it doesn't advertise how undulating the course actually is.
Would definitely re-visit but would maybe hire a buggy if I take the old man again.
scenic tree lined front 9 combines well with open parkland on back 9
Stocksfield is a charming, challenging course with a scenic tree lined front 9 opening out into parkland on the back 9 with some stunning views over the Tyne Valley. If offers a good challenge to golfers of all abilities with some excellent par 3's and a couple of really good longer holes - the 9th and 11th in particular. Off the course the friendly welcome we had in the Clubhouse was matched by the excellent catering. The veranda overlooking the par 3 18th and 1st tee is a really good feature for sitting outside after your round. Ideal for casual visitors or societies.
