The greens were very good rolled true
The green were very good rolled true so well done for this time of year 28/12/24
The rest of the course was soaked very wet !!
Some fairways shouldn’t have been open in my opinion and around the greens very wet to
I read a review saying it was a good winter course and this lead me to make my booking !! But it’s not a winter course at all I’m sure it would be lovely in the dryer months
but at £40 each the course conditions were not anywhere near good enough
But like I say dryer months yes
Wetter months big No
I hope this helps anyone making a decision I try to be fair a honest
Friendly welcome and great course
Always worth a visit. Friendly folks at reception and a great course to enjoy, not hilly so if you are looking for a recovery round this is a god one.
Bandit golf
Nice course good pace of play 3.5 hours friendly staff
Not for long hitters
This was my first visit to SO (Stratford Oaks), and on the hole £29 was a fair price. I would have felt a little "short changed" if I had to pay the normal visitor rate of £40, but golfnow had a special T slot so I took advantage.
The greens were the let down, yes large and in the main relatively flat, but they had suffered from dry weather as the groundstaff had spiked and then sand dressed them, which meant they were suffering from a cabbage patch feel.
The course was a little short (5,800 from the yellows) which we were told we had to play. This made it a medium drive followed by nothing more than a 9 iron (in most cases).
So, would I play it again, yes, but not at £40, and only if I was looking for a practice round and not a challenge.
Nice course shame about the greens
Very welcoming staff & overall the course is in good condition however they have sanded the greens & it hasn’t washed in, consequently they are quite uneven & bobbly. Rate of play was fine but thought £5.50 for a pot of tea was a bit steep! Overall though a pleasant experience
Friday Afternoon at Oaks
Wonderfully warm September afternoon at The Stratford Oaks, so we were always going to enjoy the round. We had two 2-ball couples ahead and one 2-ball behind so although we were a bit stop-start, we were 14 mins ahead of play after the ninth. All greens were heavily sanded which we were told about at the registration desk beforehand and a few big bunkers under significant repair.
But fairways were nicely prepared, the rough was OK and (most) balls findable! Some course etiquette not consistently followed by all players out that afternoon. Good cold lager in clubhouse afterwards.
Great price for the round today as well. We’ll certainly be back!
Awful
The staff were rude and gave no information - the greens were just sand you need a bucket and spade more that golf clubs - awful experience and worse club I’ve been to
Nice and picturesque course
The staff at reception were friendly, it has some great warm up facilities, changing rooms and a great range. Buggy prices were reasonable at £29.95 and the course is both challenging and pleasant.
The course was lovely
The course was lovely but it was slow all the way round wouldn’t go again @3.20 as just made 18 in twilight
Not played here for probably 15 years....always considered it a 'pay and play' course despite knowing you can become a member.
The course has matured a lot and was in very good condition, particularly the greens, which were excellent. I three putted quite a few times which is unusual for me as there were a lot of slopes that I was not aware of...I will know better next time..!!
The Oaks!
Entire course was in great condition but the greens especially were running fast and true, really enjoyable round and will coming back soon
Winter Golf
Considering the weather we have had recently, the course was in very playable.
Only a couple of temporary tees and all greens were in good condition.
The only point I would make out is that there was damage on one of the holes that we were not informed about at the booking stage or when we checked in at the course.
