Nice course shame about the greens

Very welcoming staff & overall the course is in good condition however they have sanded the greens & it hasn’t washed in, consequently they are quite uneven & bobbly. Rate of play was fine but thought £5.50 for a pot of tea was a bit steep! Overall though a pleasant experience

Friday Afternoon at Oaks

Wonderfully warm September afternoon at The Stratford Oaks, so we were always going to enjoy the round. We had two 2-ball couples ahead and one 2-ball behind so although we were a bit stop-start, we were 14 mins ahead of play after the ninth. All greens were heavily sanded which we were told about at the registration desk beforehand and a few big bunkers under significant repair.

But fairways were nicely prepared, the rough was OK and (most) balls findable! Some course etiquette not consistently followed by all players out that afternoon. Good cold lager in clubhouse afterwards.

Great price for the round today as well. We’ll certainly be back!

Nice and picturesque course

The staff at reception were friendly, it has some great warm up facilities, changing rooms and a great range. Buggy prices were reasonable at £29.95 and the course is both challenging and pleasant.

Not played here for probably 15 years....always considered it a 'pay and play' course despite knowing you can become a member.

The course has matured a lot and was in very good condition, particularly the greens, which were excellent. I three putted quite a few times which is unusual for me as there were a lot of slopes that I was not aware of...I will know better next time..!!

Winter Golf

Considering the weather we have had recently, the course was in very playable.

Only a couple of temporary tees and all greens were in good condition.

The only point I would make out is that there was damage on one of the holes that we were not informed about at the booking stage or when we checked in at the course.

Stratford Oaks Golf Club

I was somewhat disappointed with the pace of play as I teed off at 13:08 and thought I would fly round and get 18 holes in easily by 16:00(being on my own). I only managed five holes and was then stuck behind 2 fourballs and a 3 ball. The layout of the course is nice with wide fairways and good sineage. The greens are huge and up to USGA spec... nice to putt on. My biggest bug bear was the leaves.... totally covering all the rough and any shot slightly offline would result in a 3 minute or more search for your ball. This could be easily remedied by use of a big golf hoover and thus speed up play. I would definitely return but leave it till May when the leaves are still on the trees. At £15 for the round it would have been excellent value for money had I not encountered a back log.

Unfortunately the amount of rain we had made the fairways in parts a little waterlogged. I must say the greens were in excellent condition and look forward to return in drier conditions.

Course is well laid out and greens were fast.

The bunkers are terrible and let’s the course down. I was thinking of joining but won’t at this stage due to very poor bunkers.

Paths to Tee boxes need attention and a tidy up.

It has good potential

Superb Greens

Stratford Oaks is a very pleasant parkland course with an interesting variety of holes.

The greens were as good as any I’ve played this year.

Also the staff in both the office and bar after were very helpful and friendly.

Great course with fantastic greens.

Played Stafford oaks now 3 times one of my new favourites good test for any golfer with some reachable par 4s off the tee but be warned if you don’t hit the fairway or green the rough can be unforgiving most bunkers have plenty of sand in them giving you good chance to get out in one greens are quick and true if I was being picky can be a little pricey depending on your tee time but definitely worth a visit
