2nd time here a good course really enjoyed it greens super not a long course but really enjoyed it
Nice but noisy
Very friendly with great bar and practice green. Course is well kept and there are some nice feature holes although it has its fair share of duller straight up and downs. First holes run near road and train track which is noisy. Back 9 is more secluded though. Overall good value for for what we paid and conveniently inside m25.
1st round after Lockdown
A four ball after lockdown when everywhere is extremely busy and we still got round in 4hours and 10 mins. Course is in very good condition, a few people are not repairing there pitch marks on the green or replacing there divots. Some of the bunkers need urgent attention but other than that brilliant. Fabulous Bacon roll and a very tasty Latte from the clubhouse. See you soon.
Well kept and good fun
Great little course - well kept, some interesting holes, and a friendly team and nice clubhouse. Very good.value round close to London.
Good course, but ruined by the conditions
Really enjoyed my walk around Thorney. Not the course’s fault but a lot of the low lying area were extremely wet so didn’t see it at it’s best. Looking forward to coming back in the Spring!
Short and sweet
Excellent value for a well maintained course , greens excellent.
Great greens
Have played here numerous occasions
Good course well laid out
Only negatives were fairways a little long but most of all a lack of yardage markers
And when they were around they were hidden well off the fairways
Great condition course for a November round
First time I have played this course, as a high handicap player I found the course challenging but very playable for a novice golfer.
The course is well drained and the water well managed to create some interesting hazards and an attractive over water hole 7th.
It would help to have a map on the scorecard or hole diagrams at the tees, due to the undulations it was not always obvious if some holes were straight or had slight dog legs plus some hidden bunker traps to catch you out.
The course is divided by a service road and the back nine across the road has a different feel, a little telitubby land finishing with a tricky 18th next to a small waterfall feature.
It felt nice to be out on a sunny autumnal day and will certainly come back again.
They helpful man in the proshop offered a preferred visitors card for future visits. Followed by a nice pint of London Pride on the well landscaped terrace
Sunday afternoon round
4 of us tee'd of just after lunch and found the course to be a good challenge. Short but requires you to think your way round. Course was in good condition but could do with some signs detailing where the next tee is as not always immediately obvious.
Hole size!
Been playing Thorny for years and the course has always been in good condition, however this time I think due to the amount of water they're putting on the greens and possibly not moving hole location for a while, all the holes were about half inch smaller than regulation (not just saying that cos I can't putt), also the fifth tee box is covered in thousands of what looks like tiny pieces of sea shell (not good if you care about your clubs). Don't let this put you off... the greens roll well and its value for money.
Bring a score card
If you are teeing off early make sure you have a scorecard as the shop will be shut and the clubhouse may not have any other than this great course members are generally ok
Great course!
Originally teed off by myself but caught up with a member on the 2nd tee who helped me out around the course. Great conditions but the greens had a shed load of sand and holes where it was being maintained which meant I missed out on Points. Overall great course and will be going there more often!
