Challenge tees

Just starting to play the game. Two or three tees are still very challenging. I am also getting in a good amount of bunker practice. The course provides a good learning curve.

Good golfing challenge

Course in great condition considering recent dry weather. Lots of interesting holes and plenty of hills (suppose the name is a clue) including a couple of hikes to tees. Greens firm but very true.

Staff in shop and bar very pleasant and helpful.

Good course with a challenge for high handicaps

First time playing here and for someone who is only getting into golf it was a good challenge with it being up and down in design.

Greens were a good pace even with heavy rain the night before.

One thing more established golfers might not like is how narrow the course is and if you hook or slice it you are 9/10 playing on a different fairway (never heard so many 'fours' in my life).

But £30 for 8am on a Sunday can't go wrong!

Marvellous scenery on the edge of a city

If you are using your satnav to find this course don’t make my mistake. Should you be told to leave the Leeds ring road and turn into Priesthorpe Road don’t continue unless you’re driving a high riding 4 x 4. Drive back onto the main road and follow that lovely lady’s recalculated instructions.Priestthorpe Road is totally unsuitable for normal saloons.

Woodhall Hills describes itself as undulating but the club name itself best tells you the nature of the terrain on which you’re about to play. Hilly yes but still a pleasurable day out. Tree lined but not too narrow and not so long that you feel overwhelmed. There’s a varied assortment of challenges you’ll face throughout the round. The greens were running at an enjoyable speed and putts stayed on their intended line. Three groups allowed me to play through as soon as I caught them up. As I was buggy bound I wasn’t flagging by the end, even making a birdie on the last. Deep joy.

Golf on a windy day'

About 17 years since my last visit and very much enjoyed the return. I will return and hope for a better score on a less windy day. Cheers DJB.

Perfect day out

As always this one needs buggy, we walked - DOH!

Great course great value for money. the distance between some greens and the next tee is why you need a buggy. A lot of work has been done over winter and when all the new bits bed in the course will be even better!
