Marvellous scenery on the edge of a city

If you are using your satnav to find this course don’t make my mistake. Should you be told to leave the Leeds ring road and turn into Priesthorpe Road don’t continue unless you’re driving a high riding 4 x 4. Drive back onto the main road and follow that lovely lady’s recalculated instructions.Priestthorpe Road is totally unsuitable for normal saloons.

Woodhall Hills describes itself as undulating but the club name itself best tells you the nature of the terrain on which you’re about to play. Hilly yes but still a pleasurable day out. Tree lined but not too narrow and not so long that you feel overwhelmed. There’s a varied assortment of challenges you’ll face throughout the round. The greens were running at an enjoyable speed and putts stayed on their intended line. Three groups allowed me to play through as soon as I caught them up. As I was buggy bound I wasn’t flagging by the end, even making a birdie on the last. Deep joy.

Golf on a windy day'

About 17 years since my last visit and very much enjoyed the return. I will return and hope for a better score on a less windy day. Cheers DJB.

Perfect day out

As always this one needs buggy, we walked - DOH!

Great course great value for money. the distance between some greens and the next tee is why you need a buggy. A lot of work has been done over winter and when all the new bits bed in the course will be even better!

Not great conditions

Usually this course is brilliant, however the course wasn’t in great condition on this day. A lot of that will be down to the weather so I’m ok with that. However we were not notified that 3 holes were closed and the price did not reflect that these were closed and nobody on hand to speak to either. Hopefully better service next time.

Good winter course

Decent course which is holding up well with fairways and greens in good knick with a good range of holes.

Just a shame there was no mention on the club website or on golf now that 3 holes were closed (12, 13 and 14).

Good course for value for money

Well run club and course. Played the day after there was very heavy rain. Bunkers were GUR as flooded which is understandable but the course was well drained and the greens in good condition. Good little course with plenty of variety. Will definitely play here again.

First time playing this course if you are of a heavy build do not play on this course the hills are very big from the rain that we have had for the last couple of days it was a bit wet but the greens were good played on my own and didn’t have any problems getting round apart from three Asian men oh finally let me through while they was looking for a ball after four holes of waiting for them on the T

Good experience!

Course in good condition greens excellent. Quite a bit of walking between holes & some tall flag sticks would help on blind holes. Behind a slow 3 ball who did eventually let us through.
