First Time at Esplanade
I really enjoyed playing for the first time at Esplanade Golf and Country Club at Lakewood Ranch. The staff couldn't have been friendlier and the starter even gave us great advice in how to play the 3rd and 17th holes. I can see where this course can be a devil playing from the tips with so much water in play. But being older and not hitting the ball nearly as far as we used to, we played from the copper tees. I thought the course played very fair (and almost a little easy) from that set of tees. Teeing off at around 8:30, the starter had said that the pace of play might be a little slow, but fortunately, that didn't prove to be true. We played in about 4:20, and the group in front of us was a whole hole ahead of us so we could have played even faster if we didn't waste some time looking for our errant shots. This was designed beautifully and will probably be a totally private course when more houses are inhabited by golfers, but I just don't know if it's worth $99 to play it more than once.

One of the best conditioned courses in the area. Not overly difficult but still a challenge. A very fun course to play.

Beautiful Conditions! Fair Layout!
The course was in top notch conditions and greens rolled beautifully! The unfortunate thing about the course is the layout. Almost all the holes had a 30 yard opening before the green to roll the ball up onto the green. Not many play maker shots here, very easy and friendly course. Shot 77 from the tips, lots of roll in the fairways. Again great condition, boring layout.

Played the course for the first time, but not the last. Excellent course, very well taken care of. The entire staff is friendly and extremely helpful. One of the nicest courses in the area!

Awesome Day
The golf course was in awesome shape. Real nice range to loosen up, super friendly staff. Greens, tees, fairways, and rough were in perfect shape. The only issue was that my sky caddie (Gimme) doesn't pick up the Esplanade course. Highly recommend!!!!!!!

Only Problems
After 2:00, no rangers to patrol pace of play, no beverage cart, We've played there since it opened & it's always been like that.
Having said that, it's a very good course in excellent shape. Extremely lady friendly. New tiki bar very good at turn & after round is over

We appreciate the review. I am sorry that the beverage cart and ranger missed you on your round. They are both out daily and always around. I myself played 9 holes on Monday mid-afternoon in under 2 hours and saw our ranger and bev cart both!

What a gem!
Been coming to the Tampa area for 8 years on golf trips and decided to head south for a round. Loved the golf course! Conditions were perfect on this fair golf course. Greens were pure. Need to make sure of where the ponds are as you can hit through the fairway and find a few....Practice facility is very nice. A must play. We will return again!

Saturday golf in the cold!!!
It was freezing the day we played!!! The pace of play was slow and didn't see any rangers out on the course. Also, never saw a beverage cart....don't know if you have one. The course itself is fun to play.
The staff in the pro shop was not the friendliest .....
Would play the course again for the right price.

Played here when the greens were in much better shape, layout is always fun and a good value in the offseason. Greens were just not as good as I'd expect from a course charging nearly a bill a round.

Fairways ridiculously wide
I am not sure what the architect had in mind but these fairways were the widest fairways I have ever encountered. I have been playing this game regularly for 50+ years and have played hundreds and hundreds of courses. Ridiculous.

Esplanade is really nice.
Lots of construction around the course but it's not really a problem. The course routing and conditions are superior to all of the other courses I've played in 15 years visiting the area. Barely a blade of grass out of place.
Best of all is the excellent practice facilty that is included in your geeens fee.

Meet up with some friends from Michigan. I knew everyone in the group would love this place. The staff was friendly and very attentive to any needs we required. The starter was great. The course was in immaculate shape . Very highly recommend that this is a must play on any trip near Sarasota.
