Potomac Shores Golf Club

Round took way too long to play ( 5 hours 20 min). Marshall did come out but nothing changed. For the price of $69 the course was in good condition but can’t get food on the course (should accommodate if the round takes that long) . For a very nice course layout and conditions I don’t know if they will attract more business because of how slow the pace of play is. Would have liked for the staff to do something to remedy this.

Love the course, hate cart path , fairways and greens are in great shape

Played this course often recently and continue to be irritated by the cart path only rules, regardless of weather. Course says work on fairways improvement is the cause but little of that seen. Walking isn't possible because of some massive distances between holes.

Staff is pleasant; parking lot needs to be expanded.

I’ve played this course a couple of dozen times since it opened. I LOVE this course. It has it all...fairness and challenge, elevation change, risk/reward, scenery, awesome clubhouse experience and a (mostly) reasonable price point. But man..so inconsistent. Every time there is something missing, something changing, something out of order or something disappointing. Now, this won’t stop me from playing because I love the course that much. I will come more if the experience is more consistent. It’s a course with great potential but right now, it’s just pretty good!

A few more yardage markers either on the cart path or in the fairways would be appreciated

The layoutr of the course does not allow you to come back to the clubhouse at any point. Bring food if you want to have something to eat, as the grill does not open on Sundays until after 10 o’clock. The staff said that there would be food on the cart but it was only a granola bars. Fairways and greens were in great shape, but the rough was a disaster. I won’t play again until the course is in better shape.

I love the layout of this course. Fairways and greens in good shape, but rough and tee boxes were in terrible shape. They are working on rough with over-seeding, but it's going to take a lot of time. It's a shame because this could be a great tract.

Good course. Only real complaint I have is the tee-boxes need some work. They are small and muddy. The fairways were generous and the greens rolled well (speed was 7-8). The layout was challenging but fun. Worth checking out if you live in NOVA or are visiting.

First things first. This course is beautiful. It's certainly in the top 5 I've played in terms of visuals. Not just surrounding beauty as you can get with mountain courses, but the course layout itself. It was also a very challenging course. Especially playing from the Gold box. If you don't have a 260+ drive in your bag, then bump up to silver.

Fairways are in really good condition. Greens are mostly in good condition but they are peppered with divots that neither previous players nor greens staff ever fixed. Tee boxes are in rough shape, but you can tell they are working on it. And they didn't really factor in. You can still find good footing and that's all that really matters.

The real disappointment was the first 30 minutes. I was playing as a single with a 3 group and had asked ahead of time if I could have my own cart due to COVID-19 concerns. I was told yes. When I arrived, the pro-shop echoed that and told me I could ride solo. From there I went to the starter where I encountered what has to be the rudest starter/marshall I've ever experienced. First, as I pulled up another cart was coming towards me the wrong direction, so I pulled off the side to let him by. He stopped and told me "get that cart back on the path". That was the starter. Then when I made my way to the range, I was first hitting some leftover balls before breaking into my bag and he promptly came over and told me I couldn't hit the extra balls and could only hit mine. He promptly scooped up all the leftovers. Finally, when I and the threesome I was paired with headed out to the first tee, he stopped us and told us that that the two of us in carts riding solo had to combine. I and the other golfer protested. We let him know we didn't know each other, didn't' come together, and had been told by the pro-shop we could ride together. We again protested and expressed concerns about COVID019. He said he didn't care and they didn't have enough carts to outfit all the golfers and that if we wanted to play we had to combine carts. We ultimately agreed, but it was an uncomfortable experience for a while. It was pretty shocking to have a starter at such a nice course treat us that way and to readily admit that cart availability was more important than human safety. That experience alone would give me pause about recommending this course to anyone else flying solo. But, because the course layout is so nice, it's still worth it. Just hope this track can upgrade their customer experience people.

I loved the course, excellent condition with Bermuda grass fairways

One of the best course designs in the region. Consistently the best and smoothest fairways of any local course.

This should be one of the busiest courses in the area but there is something missing and I don’t know what it is..

Some tee boxes were in bad shape and the rough on many holes was also in bad shape. Need to mark most of the rough as ground under repair. July was tough on the course and first time I’ve ever seen the course in this shape. I look forward to coming back. Always good to play.

Potomac Shores has a great layout and smooth fairways. This is one of the best accessible courses in the area.

Was visiting a friend from DC, decided to try this track out for a twilight round on Sunday. Beautiful grass range, definetely a plus. The course has a cool layout with many turns and elevation changes that offer a challenging day of golf. My complaint, and what ruined what could be a superb experience, is the complete lack of attention to tee boxes and rough across the course. On close to 75% of tee boxes there was no semblance of grass (think wet softball field). Additionally, you better hope you dont miss the fairway or green as you could catch a NASTY lie/dirt patch. While I understand this course is a work in progress, the above must be worked on to offer a complete, filling experience.

Held up well to summer heat and was a joy to play.

The course meanders through Northern Virginia Hills East of the Potomac River. It’s a beautiful course and should be especially nice when the leaves are in full fall display. Given the challenging summer weather, the fairways and greens were in good shape, but Some of the tee boxes need some TLC. The club house has nice outdoor seating over looking the 16th green and it’s approach. The staff were all very pleasant, and their was a beverage cart that we saw three times even though the course is an 8 mile loop. There is a lot of elevation change on this course, but I very much enjoyed.

This is the 2nd time I've played the course and it was in better shape last time. I understand they just airrated the course 10 days ago but the tee boxes were in horrible condition. The greens had no break due to the airration. The fairways are in great shape and the sand played well. If the tee boxes were in better shape it would have been more enjoyable, but all in all it was a good experience and I would go back. Doesn't hurt that I hit an Eagle on the long split fairway par 5 #8, those will always keep you coming back.
