Alhambra Municipal Golf Course
About
Alhambra Golf Course has a player-friendly design that is ideal for beginners but also great for more experienced players who are looking for a quick but fun round. The layout is a shorter par-71 design at 5,478 yards. It may not be long but it offers plenty of other challenges. There is plenty of variety between the two vastly different nines. The front nine holes are fairly flat, parkland holes with generous fairways lined with trees. The beginning holes provide a good warm-up for Alhambra Golf Course's more difficult back nine where you'll have to use every club in your bag. The back sprawls across rolling terrain, incorporating elevation changes ranging from subtle to dramatic. There are also more strategically placed bunkers on the back nine. Alhambra's 16th is the signature hole. This tricky par 5 begins with an intimidating tee shot over water in order to reach the fairway.

Hole 6 green. So many trees that line the fairways at this course. Photo submitted by u018507495 on 06/24/2025

Could be better
There’s a lot of good value to this course. However, there are a handful of issues that they either can’t fix or are choosing not to. Specifically speaking, the bunkers have been terrible for the last few years. There’s never any playable sand. It’s either hard as rock or soaking wet underneath. They also constantly have ground under repair and do a minimal or lazy job of marking it with a flag or two. But one club length also doesn’t make a difference because even in that radius, the grass and mud are still unplayable. These two specific things could potentially make for an overall excellent experience, if they did something about their drainage
Home Course
always seems to start with a great and friendly, energetic and knowledgeable staff. Not a long hitter, so the course length helps you feel you can play the best round of your life every time you tee off. Except for several unrepaired ball marks on the greens (which is dismaying, why can't we bend over and repair ONE ball mark, even if you didn't create one!?), they are very well kept by the groundskeepers, not so much us golfers. Lots of fun, low stress, and we always encounter beautiful weather.
Friendly Course, nice greens
Only the 3rd time playing there on the weekend so maybe I’ve just had bad luck getting caught behind slower groups all 3 times playing there, or it’s the norm, time will tell. Otherwise what a great course, nice greens, friendly staff.
Small suggestions
Love Alhambra.
I'm glad to see sand being added to bunkers.
The only other thing is the need to extend the lunch menu Mondays and Tuesdays please!
Lake is in need of maintenance
The algae in the 2nd/16th Hole lake has really become an issue; it's creating tremendous odor as the plant life in there starts to die and rot. Alhambra staff needs to deal with it before it gets much worse.

Desperately need marshals on the course after 7 AM. Golfers are not keeping up with the group ahead of them. And eliminate 5 somes unless the all take a cart.
Tee Times Not Right
The people running the starters desk are not good in managing the early morning tee times. The cart guy is always late so when you have an early tee time, you never start on time. The staff let walk-ons go before the reserved tee time people just because they’ve been golfing there for a long time which is not fair to the people who have to make tee times. Their policy of letting people without tee times go first is ridiculous because why bother making a tee time if they let you on before the people who have them.

Course needs a marshal after 8 AM due to slow play. If 5 players are allowed they shoul be made to take carts. Sandra's are horrible
Great course...love playing here!
Lovely challenging course with 3, 4 and 5 par holes...lots of opportunities to use all of your clubs.
