Verrado Golf Club - Victory Course

Enjoyed our round. Pace was good and course was in great shape. Nice views from elevation and frequent fly by’s from fighter jets. Staff was very nice and accommodating. Great day and great course. I give them a strong 4 stars overall. If your in the Phoenix area it should be on the short list.

I was a little disappointed with the overall condition of the course. This time of year I expected the course to be a lot greener and the greens to be way better following over seeding. It felt like a step above summer time conditions in the fairways. The fairways rolled out nicely but there was a decent amount of muddy spots throughout the entire course especially around the greens. The greens were subpar for this time of year. The only thing that was good is that they were fast but they were basically dried out and felt almost like an artificial surface. Not one ball checked on the green and everything rolled out no matter what kind of shot you hit around the greens. If it were the summer time I would have no issues but paying over $100 and after over seeding I would not play here again for anything more than $50. I do enjoy the course and like the layout but the conditions were not even close for what I have played on there in the past this time of year.

We played mid-morning and the pace of play was decent, not great, but not horrible. A lot of construction going on next to the front nine, so beware, but by the time you get to the back nine you have it all to yourself! Greens are pretty quick, but pretty true as well. Even if you end up at the incorrect Verrado course, (like we did!) they are only about 5 minutes apart.

With many elevated tees and greens, canyon views all around you, and well manicured fairways, this course was a memorable experience. We would play it again. The green complexes at times could be a little silly with pin positions occasionally on knobs that brought out the “mini-golf” feel. Retired, I play 100+ rounds a year and carry a single digit handicap. I played it from the silvers which is around 6500 yards. I found the tee to green experience exciting and still forgiving of some of my wild tee shots. We got off early so pace of play was good for us.

The total course is in excellent condition!! The layout is a mixture of rewarding holes and super challenging holes. Greens are amazing and above average speeds. For me, the faster, the better, so I love the greens.

So much to say, I’ll start by saying I’ve played founders and victory and founders in incredible, victory is just ok. For starters it has a tiny pro shop and only outdoor eating. Very minimal, after my round I went to the founder club grill to eat and enjoy the evening.

Look at but if you miss the fairway your playing ping pong in the rocks. Lots of blind shots. The greens have crazy undulations, on some it just doesn’t make sense huge swells and many false fronts, backs and side areas. Construction has destroyed many areas of the cart paths so you are driving on dirt, if it’s windy you’ll have grit in your eyes. I have no idea why they didn’t build the holes closer together. Many holes require 100’s of yard cart rides to next hole. Should have been designed better. Practice range is nice, but the practice green makes no sense. Again what were they thinking. There is no chipping area. Unbelievable practice area at founders. I’ll not play victory again, I will however continue to play the founder club. They did such an outstanding job with founders, why change the recipe????

This was definitely one of the best course I have played. Every hole was exquisite and fun layout. Course was in a great shape. Definitely recommend.

Played this course for the second time and staff was almost nonexistent. The round was almost 6 hours with three groups on almost every hole. No Marshall seen all day. Cart service showed up on the 10th hole after being out there over 4 hours. Greens were very nice however.
