Lakewood National Golf Club - Commander Course

I think they moved more dirt than the average Florida course. More elevation changes. The greens are fabulous for a course this young, they are great for a mature course. I would like to play to a few more times before I pass final judgment, it’s definitely a course that requires a few rounds to judge fairly,, but my initial assessment is that it is a tough layout, very sensitive to wind,, enjoyable and requires most of the clubs in the bag on most days. I look forward to the next round there. I played it on a GolfNow deal, so it was a great value for me, but it is definitely worth top dollar in the area.

Nice lay-out. Many bunkers and a lot of waste area that gives the holes a challeging look.

The course is wide, so you dont lose many balls when you are not very straight. You cannhave a pleasant round here..

This course is absolutely beautiful it was a joy to play here. Staff were friendly from check in to check out. It was cold and windy but had a great time playing this course can't wait to come back and play again . Everything was in great shape.

Wonderful Golf course. Beautiful practice facilities, the greens are very undulated, but fair, the course layout is great and the overall experience is terrific.

Great course if you find the right rate. Booked with golf now and they kicked tee time back 30 minutes. Finished in semi darkness because of that. Quality golf course with great greens.

Slow play all day. We had 3 groups waiting on a tee at 3 different holes throughout the day. We did not see a ranger all day. We even sent an email through the GPS system with no response. Several groups left due to the slow play.

The staff did not address slow play. We were on several tees with 2 other foursomes waiting for slow players. We did not see a ranger all day. Very disappointing. Several groups left the coarse as a result.

A wonderful course in every respect. Manicured beautifully; strategically built; fun, forgiving but challenging and part of an all-together well run operation. Practice facilities are great, too. Only gripe is back 9 can get slow and today was my second 4 hour 40 min round in a week. I see rangers out there, but I wish they’d be stricter regarding play-time.

All in all, I think it’s the best public course in Sarasota.

Great golf course, first time I’ve had a first nine with 3 par 3’s/4’s/5’s It was a superb FUN course with very tricky HUGE greens. Clubhouse not finished yet but would like to come back next year when finished

This course was a pure pleasure to play. The fairways are wide and water hazards are avoidable. The condition of the course is amazing and greens are flawless. Only negative is the difficulty putting on large, undulating greens that are very firm. We will go back!

The course is terrific. But why is there still no clubhouse!? Keep raising rate but no amenities.

I've played here a lot. Had a tee time at 1 :15 and had to end it early because we couldn't finish it in time. It's a long course but shouldn't have to take 5 1/2 hours to play a round.

Wide fairways tricky greens cart paths in bunkers on many holes not special for price paid and bit of a building site

If you don’t like this course you don’t no anything about golf or what makes enjoyable.

Really enjoyed our day!!! Generous fairways and very large greens. But definitely an interesting layout with lots of water and bunkers.

If you get the opportunity to play here do it!!!

Overall course is in great condition. Greens are very fast and difficult to read. The community is still building so rating the off course amenities is not easy since there really are none at this time. Only improvement recommendation would be to have someone out to help keep pace of play. The group in front of us was very slow and the round took 5 hours.
