Lakewood National Golf Club - Commander Course

We played Lakewood today. The course is in excellent condition. The greens were rated 10 on the stimp metet her but we’re very fast and sloped. It was very much fun.

It’s a lovely course but extremely slow play. The group in front of us had 5 players and not a Marshall in sight. I won’t come back.

The best course in the Bradenton area! Evert hole is a test of your skills! Would play it everyday, if I could!

Really nice layout with undulations. Aerated greens when I played but the countours were fantastic. Excellent staff. Great potential as it matures. Price was so low, I was surprised even for the miserable heat discount. Play now or maybe you won’t be able once it goes private.

At the time of play, fairways had been plugged, greens had been plugged neither had repaired themselves yet. Front 9 drained very well, back 9 was cart path only, fairways very sloppy. It had down poured the day before. Back 9 needs drainage help. At $27.00 this will be a remarkable deal. At normal price after Sep 1 , $80.00+, I doubt I will play at that price.

Course was in excellent shape considering there was a major storm the day before. Still some bumps on the greens from being plugged. Otherwise, loved the course and can't wait to play it again.

Challenging layout - front nine pretty open and just when you think ther’e’s not much water - Look Out on the back nine. Well maintained - look forward to coming back when greens are back to normal (they were aerated last week). Greens are also challenging with lots of variation

This is one on the best courses in the area if not the best.

Fabulous new course and glad made trip to Lakewood National - it’s so easy to stick to trusted courses when on vacation.

Welcoming staff and starter who took time to take us to first tee and provide guidance for appropriate tees.

Course layout was generous but testing with undulating fairways and greens. Be sure to play off suitable tees!

Construction of housing going on around, but given size of development was far enough away not to impinge on enjoyment. I imagine will be stunning set up when completed.

Will definitely return on next visit.

We played this course on 7/31/18 for about $50 and this place was spectacular. We were running tight on time, so we were unable to utilize the range & practice greens, which turned out to be unfortunate, but this place was absolutely immaculate. The course is extremely challenging - I played one up from the tips and I only had 9 iron or less into a par 4 twice the entire day. They said the greens were rolling at a 10.0, but I have a hard time believing that.. They were extremely quick and if you got above the hole, you'd better pray you hit the back of the cup or else you're going to have a 7 footer coming back. If you're looking for a challenge, you're not going to find more of one for the price. This place was truly incredible. I will definitely be back.

We played in 4.3 hrs. The Fairways were in super shape. The greens we’re true besides recent aeration.

I recommend it and will play there again this year.

Play this course for the very first time the pace of play was fantastic the staff were extremely friendly the only issue I have is that there is no where to sit down inside in the air conditioning and have a cool adult beverage.

The course is extremely long for senior players and very difficult but in excellent condition I will definitely be returning .

First time at this course that I've wanted to try for a while. Got about 15 mins. of hard rain on the front, but the course drainage was exceptional. Course layout was challenging but fair with lots of undulations, blind shots, and not too many water carries. The conditions were excellent, except for the pre-disclosed aeration of greens, but even with the punches, the greens rolled pretty true. Very nice amenities, with ice/water on each side and ice in coolers on the GPS-equipped carts. Free included practice range usage was a real plus as well. This may now be my favorite course in the area, particularly at the favorable summer rate offered.
