Great golf in Sarasota
Country Club service, resort quality golf with a challenging layout. Best course I’ve played in Sarasota.
Great course...very slow play in afternoon
I have played Lakewood National many times in the morning and have always had a great time. The staff is wonderful and the layout is great. Unfortunately we played in the afternoon and pace of play was super slow and we started late due to lack of carts. I will definitely be back but in the morning.
Roller Coaster Greens
Your putter will get a workout on the massive undulating greens. This is a championship layout. Great driving range with Titleist range balls. Fairways are very wide and forgiving. Traps are in perfect condition. What the fairways give the greens take away. Green complexes are huge and run very smooth and quick. Greens are new and don't hold iron shots well. Hard to make a ball mark or get much spin. Definitely worth playing. This is one of the best public courses in Bradenton. We teed off as a foursome of sub 100 golfers at 2:12 and were finished at 6:20.
New course with no soul
Very much like the Esplanade. New course with construction going on all over the place. Good condition. Good greens. Okay layout......but no character and no soul. Very easy like most courses in Florida.
Yes. Play here !
Steve from the pro shop is very friendly. Very inviting. The course setup and conditions are excellent. My only disappointment is that during our first half of our round to be told to pick up our pace, having never seen anyone behind us and finish the front in an hour and forty minutes got us all aggravated. Then once your aggrieved, we’ll you know the feeling. We settled back in after a couple of holes and enjoyed playing one of the finest public courses on the gulf coast. Play there now, at some point , we were informed, it will be completely private.
Great Addition to Bradenton Area
Really enjoyed playing this course for the first time. I assumed this course would be in excellent condition, and I was not disappointed. A good test, but very fair for the most part. More difficult than Esplanade, (no surprise there) but not as tough as Waterlefe.
Typical Modern Championship Course
Found the front 9 a little bland. The 3 par 5's were very much the same. Course in very good condition, very slipping greens, fast and true. The back 9 is much more interesting and varied. Well worth a play.
what a unique golf course .. the hills and slope on the greens were like brooksville......... where did the hills come from in manatee county....... can't wait to play it again..... played from the palmer tees... 5899 yards .... national is 6455 yards...... a bit to far............ 1 hour drive but i will go back until it becomes private........ wow...........
One of the best courses, a true GEM
Lakewood National is great golf course. The staff are amazing and so friendly. They are there to make sure you enjoy the course. The range is awesome. The course conditions are amazing. The sand is consistent, which is what you want. The greens are the prize here. Fast and true. That is all you could ask for. I think they were rolling around 10.5. The pins were placed in fair locations. The course is very appealing to the eye. My one complaint is that there is not enough water to drink on the course. We had a 7:00 tee time and only saw the cart person one time. That is OK for me as I don't need anything from the cart person. There is a lot of construction going on, but it doesn't seem to effect the atmosphere of the course. Our pace of play was great as we were the first off. There were four of us and we played in just over 3:30. If you are in the area and don't play this course, you are missing out.
From the bag drop to completing your round of golf the staff are extremely friendly and polite. The course is very challenging and requires course management with the help from cart GPS. The best golf course in Bradenton Florida.
.
Great golf
What a great golf course
Just when you think you have reached the promise land, the greens are there to humble you
Great experience
Course was fabulous. Loved layout. Some holes a bit annoying because waste area cart path does not allow electric carts to enter the fairway. And carts are GPS monitored, will shutdown if accidentally go into the wrong area. Golf GPS did work great when you could take cart beside your ball. My wristwatch GPS didn't have National listed (to new?). We saw cart girl on 2nd hole and never again. Round was very slow.
love the course, hate the pace of play!
I've played this course many times since they've opened. I enjoy the course layout and conditions, so I'm a sucker for coming back. But I think I'm done until at least the snowbirds leave.
This place needs a RANGER!
The pace of play and the way they put tee times so packed together makes for a very unpleasant experience.
Yesterday we had to quit because it was so slow it got dark before we finished.
