Lakewood National Golf Club - Commander Course

Down for Christmas with family and looked forward to playing LW National GC.

Great course /experience. Really enjoyed..Challenging undulating fast greens.

While this facility is still under construction, the golf course is NOT! it is ready and in just outstanding condition! actually amazing , greens are tour quality, fast (10.5 to 11) and hard, just the way they should be.

Outstanding practice facility and in my opinion the best looking, designed, pro shop I have seen in a long time, open, minimalist design, VERY well done. And all of the staff is really doing their assigned jobs, top to bottom.

A couple of the greens are a bit overdone (size and undulation) but does not ruin a great track . only hole I would re do would be number 12, par 3, if the BACK tee was 140-150 yards and that meaning the member, guest ,forward tees would be from 85- 110 yards , problem solved! The green complex is simply too difficult and big for a 175-240 yard shot.

GREAT track , look forward to playing it every time.

Just a note, this is a Florida golf course design NOT designed for walking and the "pace of play" comments here make me laugh, why is it some can play this course in under 4 hours and others take 5 plus hours and it's the courses fault? PEPOLE play slow, NOT Rangers, Marshalls or the course!!!

Last played 6 weeks ago. Greens were super fast and with all the slopes and levels on the greens made putting and chipping very difficult and that led to a 4 1/2 hour round due to all the extra strokes around the greens. Played Thursday December 21 and the greens were fast but not overly fast and that made for a much better round and we played in 3 1/2 hours. If they keep the greens at the current stimp speed of about 8-9 this will allow for better scoring and will speed up the pace of play. As I previously reviewed the course is visually beautiful, has a great layout, and in excellent condition.

Course is in very good condition. Layout is excellent. Greens have much undulation and are quite fast so putting is a real challenge.

Started out a bit cool (54 degrees at 7:45), but warmed up in a couple of hours to a very comfortable day. The entire experience...from bag drop, to checking in, to range time, to starter, to pace of play, was about as perfect as it could have been. Five sets of tees to accommodate any level of golfer. Played in a threesome behind another threesome and finished in three hours and forty-five minutes. Ranger stopped by twice to ask how things were going...perfect. Will take family there when they come for the holidays.

Newer course. Amenities still under construction, The only thing available is the cart. That worked out fine with a very nice young woman in the cart.

I went there on my birthday and my wife(has MS) and found out that even with handicap regulations very difficult for her to walk the necessary amount. This course doest let you get close enough for someone with a walking issue and left after 11 holes ( She tried and played about 8)Wont go back

Everythings looks the same,no frontal water,no trees,there are no obstales...

Great course, not any easy course extremely fast greens, sand traps with "real sand"!

Great additions to the Lakewood Ranch area!

The course was in great shape . The pace was real bad because all the real bad players trying to play above average course for their skill level . If you can’t afford to lose a ball and takes you 20 minutes to search for it , don’t play this course.

For new course in great shape, club house complete and upscale practice facility. Courteous and organized staff. Housing development will be under construction for several years but no real affect on golf course. Generous fairways with noticeable slopes and contours but still lots of opportunities to get in trouble. Greens are "oversized" especially one par 3 (#12?) which is largest ever seen. Not sure Arnie would have approved something that big.Probably takes 5 guys 2 hours to cut it everyday!! There are several short holes from the Palmer tees (white) and next time I would use the Blue tees on those holes to add some length (2,6,13,16 and 17). Need to play it more than once to get a feel. Will definitely return.

Great day and great round of golf. Course is wide open off the tee and the greens are enormous. Make sure you bring your A game when it comes to putting. Quick and true

May need sheriff to speed up pace. Used almost 5 hours. Should not be necessary. eside that an exclent course.

You will not be disappointed!!! The course and greens are a 10/10!!!! Fun and beautiful!! The staff couldn't have been nicer! I enjoyed this course more than Copperhead at Innisbrook!! A true gem!!!!!

A friend, who is a veteran golfer in the Sarasota/ Bradenton area recommended the course.

It was a lush green , beautifully maintained "track".

Very challenging greens, with various undulations.

Nice range, and polite staff.

Cart girl who seemed to be everywhere.

Lengthy drive back west.....BUT WELL WORTH IT!
