Just another overbooked course
Very comparable to other Atlanta municipal courses. Decent fairways with some decent tees and subpar greens. It’s nice mid summer because the heat rids off most of the crowd and a decent pace of play can be maintained.
Signs of progress in course maintenance is slow to take shape
However, two or three people attempting to groom the course for daily play, even at a municipal course is an indication of the commitment to present the course in the best light.
Trees down for weeks from storm
Trees need trimming so as not to affect reasonable shots from tee boxes and fairways
Sand is traps are rarely turned throughout the course
Standing water around sprinkler heads which don’t close promptly when turned off is inexcusable.
Fairway yardage markers are covered with grass and invisible. No 150/100 yardage marks are painted/visible on the cart paths
Bridge out for weeks, remains in disrepair
Mowing fairways when wet, leaving clumps of grass everywhere and not following with blowers is just simple neglect
Inexperienced, untrained grounds crews have no clue in mowing primary or secondary rough, greens or tee boxes. That a management and operational leadership issue ….. guidance and resources
Tee marker placements are rarely placed for appropriate stance.
With the rumor of a “Mayor’s Cup” Tournament being played on this course, a significant level of attention must, should, aught be, provided. Don’t just clean it up for those who don’t play it on a regular basis week after week.
Or, maybe the plan should be, let them see how untidy and neglected the course is actually presented for those customers who come from local and long distances and pay the daily fee.
Good course, play at own risk
Great quality for price. There was a shooting last time we played. Bullets coming in our general direction - maybe 40 yards from us near the 15th green. Be aware of your surroundings and be cautious out there!
Playable ? Yup
Got sometime while in DT Atlanta and would like to play a quick round of golf ? Course is accesible staff is friendly
Course like many public ones are struggling with maintenance and cart conditions, but let’s be honest it’s all about fun ! Unless you are a pro or trying to get into the LIV tour Alfred’s course will do it for you
Have fun hit it long and straight
Don’t Play here.
I don’t even like writing reviews but, if I could save someone the time and effort, it’s worth writing. Staff is slow bc it’s only one guy who runs the pro shop, is also the starter, is also the cart guy… the warm up area is trash. No driving range. They over book so it takes forever. They mean well but, this isn’t the place…
Totally a hit or miss
The course can be beautiful if operationally maintained by the grounds crew and with management’s s commitment. Otherwise is turns into being a “billy-goat field”.
Totally shameful the lack of consistency in preparing the course for daily play…. tee box, to green, including sand. Golf is not an Easter Sunday preparation affair.
The effort to improve the playing experience is improving.
The golf carts are slow, worn out seats and in some cases dangerous because if steering looseness and misalignment.
The Management deserves credit for making the course looked groomed and cared for.
Awareness, Commitment and Resources once in full play and sustained makes the golfing experience a delight and worth returning.
Thanks to the management team for the changes in the golfing course conditions a d playability
Bravo!
Often, progress takes time.
It’s very good to see attention being placed on the course’s maintenance on a daily and consistent basis throughout the week, across all aspects of players engagement with the course. .
Nice course
Staff was great and friendly. The course was also good. We had a nice time.
Agreed. Hidden Gem
This was my first time playing here. Picked up a Hot Deal for an unbelievable price. For the money it’s the best course in Atlanta. Yeah the carts are old, paths are beat up, and there’s some areas that definitely need some work. For example the tee boxes. But the greens were great, fairways were inviting, and the layout is super fun! Bunkers were not bad too and the staff was helpful. I usually play College Park, Wolf Creek, West Pines, Cherokee Run, The Frog, Fox Creek, and Cobblestone. No beverages offered other than water from what I saw. And no range just a putting and chipping area. This course could really be something with a little tlc but it’s still my new go to for a cheaper round.
Hidden Gem
Wonderful course in southwest atlanta, I’ve definitely payed more for more poorly kept, walking courses on the north side. Tup Holmes is our go-to.
