About
El Prado Golf Course boasts two different 18-hole courses: Butterfield Stage and Chino Creek. Early in California's statehood, stagecoaches would make the 2,700 mile trek from St. Louis to San Francisco. The property used to be a stop on this trail, which is where the Butterfield Stage Course gets its name. It's the shorter of the two courses at 6,568 yards from the back tees. The course is flatter and more forgiving than Chino Creek, but it still has a fair amount of challenges that will test your skills. The layout has generous fairways, but watch out for the strategically placed bunkers lurking along the large, gently undulating greens. Water hazards come into play on several holes as well. The wide open nature of the course can be forgiving but at the same time it will put your round at the mercy of the prevailing winds.

Not worth the time or money

Memorial Day Weekend Round
The course is ok shape , nothing to complain about. The greens are in great shape. Definitely worth the money.
Course needs some care

Great Value!
The first few holes weren’t my favorite and caught me off guard. They were the least manicured and the shooting range close by can be a little distracting. After that, I was quite blown away by how fantastic the greens were. Decent length fairways just perfect if you’re trying to branch off from being a beginner. The path can be a little confusing and the map didn’t precisely help. Would definitely come back here!

The 3 star review was given as I like to base my score in an overall manner. A 5 to me would be a Pelican Hill or Hacienda Country Club maintained course with the treatment from staff as though you were a member. Don’t get me wrong though, for the price of the course this was a great deal. The tight small greens pushed for more target golf and held the ball very well. There were some spots in the fairways that needed some work and rocks in some of the bunks as to be expected for the cost. I can say it will be a place I continue to go to as I found it fun and challenging. Best of all the pace of play reminded me of being at a country club as we finished in about 3 and a half hours.
