El Prado Golf Courses - Butterfield Stage
About
El Prado Golf Course boasts two different 18-hole courses: Butterfield Stage and Chino Creek. Early in California's statehood, stagecoaches would make the 2,700 mile trek from St. Louis to San Francisco. The property used to be a stop on this trail, which is where the Butterfield Stage Course gets its name. It's the shorter of the two courses at 6,568 yards from the back tees. The course is flatter and more forgiving than Chino Creek, but it still has a fair amount of challenges that will test your skills. The layout has generous fairways, but watch out for the strategically placed bunkers lurking along the large, gently undulating greens. Water hazards come into play on several holes as well. The wide open nature of the course can be forgiving but at the same time it will put your round at the mercy of the prevailing winds.

Value
This is the best value for your money. Grass range and three nice size putting practice greens
Staff
Booked early tee time waited at the tee box for 15 min starter never said go or we will put someone with you so went by myself. Made the turn and there was a 2 sum just teeing off for the back 9, went to the pro shop to complain he told me...oh ya they just teed off, ok so I waited every shot on the back 9...got back to the parking lot 2.5 hours later parked the cart were I have always parked the cart and someone claiming to be the manger harassed me about were I parked the cart for return....They need new management at this course.
Nice course to play, but don't play it when it's 90 degrees outside, There is one hole with a small lake which smells terrible, my only complaint on the course, fairways are ok and greens good
Functional Golf
It’s a very fair course. Fairways are decent and the greens roll well.
It’s falling apart.
I’ve played this course a lot over the years and I noticed the last few months it’s been really falling apart. The management of the course and the groundskeeping crew isn’t doing their job. It’s a mess. The sand traps don’t have sand. It’s straight up hard dirt and the overall grass isn’t consistent. Honestly won’t be back.
Good course
Good course to play but the sand traps are horrible it’s not even sand

Best value around both courses are awesome my favorite is Butterfield try the hot dog it’s the best around the best staff super friendly facility!I play here almost every Sunday!
Butterfly stage
The facilities were okay. The greens were in relatively good conditions. They don’t provide divot repair mix so the fairways are littered with divot marks. The hole layout for the butterfly stage was very confusing. You have to cross the street multiple times and at one point you cross the street to play hole 10 and then cross back over. The staff were friendly and kind but overall this course is average and not really worth the money.

Well laid out course.
On many of the holes the smell of manure and flies are overwhelming.
