El Prado Golf Courses - Butterfield Stage

About
El Prado Golf Course boasts two different 18-hole courses: Butterfield Stage and Chino Creek. Early in California's statehood, stagecoaches would make the 2,700 mile trek from St. Louis to San Francisco. The property used to be a stop on this trail, which is where the Butterfield Stage Course gets its name. It's the shorter of the two courses at 6,568 yards from the back tees. The course is flatter and more forgiving than Chino Creek, but it still has a fair amount of challenges that will test your skills. The layout has generous fairways, but watch out for the strategically placed bunkers lurking along the large, gently undulating greens. Water hazards come into play on several holes as well. The wide open nature of the course can be forgiving but at the same time it will put your round at the mercy of the prevailing winds.

Overbooked
The golf cart situation was ridiculous. Not enough carts to go around. When I was waiting for a cart, another twosome came to the starter with the exact same tee time on Butterfield as my threesome. I realize they are trying to make as much money as possible but double booking is not the way. Also too many very young children playing , like 5-6 year olds on a busy day doesn't work. I won't play there again unless its early on a weekday

Not well kept and smells like manure throughout the course.

El Prado
Horrible conditions. The fairways didn't even grass and the greens have bumps all over. One of the worst courses I have ever played for $50. They should be charging $20 a round with free lunch.

Not bad for this time of year.
Tees are so so, a bit uneven. We played lift clean and place, so if you roll the ball over, you can get a good lie.
The greens always roll true here. They are very receptive. I would play again.

Flat wide open ciursce
Butterfield is a walking course. Be prepared to have a push cart. Was not able to finish due to 12.50 tee time in December. A bit of odor from nearby processing plant. Given the covid situation, bunker sand quite hard. Enjoyed playing. Good value.
Not able to play
When we arrived we learned that the Butterfield course is walking only after 10:00 am. My wife and I are over 80. We cannot walk. I think that GolfNow should have posted this in a prominent way. It is a long drive for us. There is too much push on your web site and not enough customer service.
