About
El Prado Golf Course in Chino offers two 18-hole courses, Chino creek and Butterfield Stage. Chino Creek is the longer of the two at 6,858 yards from the back tees. It is also considered more challenging but both are player friendly enough to appeal to all skill levels. As its name would imply, the Chino Creek runs along the entire length of the golf course. You find water in several different forms throughout the course including lakes and meandering streams. The layout is spread across rolling terrain with elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. Several of the holes begin from elevated tees and it's likely you'll face more than one uphill battle. Trees and bunkers also come into play but the fairways are wide and forgiving. It's not an overly difficult golf course but beginners can also try the shorter and less challenging Butterfield Stage Course.

Not Happy
I booked a tee time for 2:!8 knowing full well that we could not get in 18 holes before it got dark at about 5:45 PM. I've played before until we could not see anymore...... I was OK with that. We were at a good pace of play and I thought we could get in 15 at least by the time it got dark at 5:45 PM. They closed the back gates at 5:00 PM without any forewarning leaving us without being able ot play holes 12-15. to jump onto 16 put us about 3-4 back. After putting my cubs back in the car and cleaning out the cart, I complained to the front desk. Dave said "Yeah we close the gates at 5:00 PM. I would have let you play the first few holes again if you wanted." That is all fine and dandy, except NO ONE EVER SAID THAT. They did not tell us they closed the gates at 5:00 when we checked in. The grounds guy closing the gate (who was very rude, angry and defensive) did not tell us to go play the first few holes again. I will never go back to this golf course again. There are way too many options to have to put up with this kind of crap.

A good day, good partners. We played as a three some. I liked the improvement of the approach to the bridge(I believe it is on the 10th)...It was in dire need for repair. Water pressure in restrooms between 5 and 6 almost nonexistent. Enjoyed the round.
Good price great pace
Greens we're a little bumpy and there were some dead spots on the edges of the fairway but still a good course for the price.

Extreme winds ruled the day.
The day was cold, cloudy and extremely windy(40 mph) with long gusts of wind exceeding 60 mph. A real challenge, but an experience in carefully selecting the correct club for the best results....
Disappointed
Greens are “bumpy.” Too many fairways are thin and hard-packed ground. If they would repair gopher holes instead of leaving them holes with mounds that become hard packed, it would really HELP! Course has real potential, but really needs work.

We played on Butterfield Stage course due to large amount of players
When we were switched to Butterfield we played at an earlier time(30 minutes). The three groups ahead of us were walkers who strolled to their next stroke which really made the pace very slow..we started at 12:30 and finished at 5 04. Sometimes we waited 5-10 minutes to swing from the next tee. If there had been a Marshall perhaps the pace may have been a little faster...

The greens were decent some had burnt spots. The fairways were extremely spotted with dead spots and dirt/mud in most fairways. Your lucky if your ball finds a green spot! Very slow play a 5 hour round. A typical Southern California municipal. Won’t go back

Course is in pretty good shape...greens still "bumpy" from aeration last month.
Many duffers today and considering that, for the most part, the pace was not too bad....good weather

El Prado was kind enough to respond to my comment. In the comment they say to call them to resolve the problem. I am happy to do that, but when I called, nobody answers. And the comment does not say what extension I should leave a message. Balls in your court, El Prado. I have some good suggestions to avoid this kind of discontent among paying customers.
