Green River Golf Club
About
The beauty of the Santa Ana Canyons surrounds Green River Golf Club in Corona. The club originally had two 18-hole courses but they have been combined to form one massive, sprawling golf course. Although it is surrounded by hills and valleys, the course itself is mostly flat, making it a good round for high handicappers. The fairways are wide and forgiving, making it even more player friendly for beginners. There are still many challenges in store on this golf course though, including a number of river and creek crossings and strategically placed bunkers. The Santa Ana winds that sweep across the course can often make reaching the greens in regulation quite tough and the abundant trees, while providing a scenic and secluded atmosphere, also add to Green River Golf Club's difficulty.

Weird
Had to play holes 1,2,12-18 twice as an 18 but our front nine took 3 and a half hours and with time obligations, we couldn’t continue. TERRIBLE pace and nobody to do anything about it. Not what I expected from what I saw online about this course. My last time here, at least until their round layout is fixed.
Run down course
I played here ten years ago. At the time there were two eighteen par 72 courses and they are fine to play. Now it shrinks into a nine hole course and the condition is not very good. I will never play this course again.
Sad Condition-Repeat 9 holes to make up 18 holes
We had to repeat 9 holes twice. It was not mentioned when our tee time was made. The second 9 was terrible. At the 10th hole, 3 foursome were lined up at the tee box. The starter was nice enough told us to skip couple holes. The group ahead was upset seeing us to skip; been behind them. We were fortunate enough that a twosome let us join them.
We didn't pay too much for $24 walking, but we paid for a cart for $10 per player. Overall, we have decided AGAIN that we'll never go back again. It was as bad as 5 years ago: sick greens and not maintained fairways.
Not well maintained
Course is in bad shape. Needs more regularly maintenance on the greens and fairways. Pace of play was very slow.
Green River - Cheap Golf
If you wish to golf 18 holes that costs a little more than a large bucket of balls, Green River is your course.
The tee boxes are mostly level. The Fairways are mostly green, and the greens are pretty good.
But, for $19 after 2pm, it's a great practice course.
Just bring some kidney support as you will drive over endless ground squirrel mounds which rival most motocross tracks.
I've been playing at Green River for over 10 years now and it never changes.
So, if you want cheap golf, Green River is your course.
Terrible Staff
I knew that there was construction going on and we had to play the same 9 holes twice. However, when I was paying for my round, the staff members were being completely rude to me. I was asked if I knew about the construction and I said yes but what holes are we suppose to play and I got terrible responses saying that I should have known this before I booked it. There were other things as well but you can tell by that response what I was dealing with.
What a mess
It started with the guy in the pro shop. No personality and was rolled up in a blanket. Not sure but he may of still been sleeping!
Then he notified me that the course had been reduced to 9 holes only. That was news to me!
There was no starter so it was a free for all right of the 1st tee. Everyone I asked claimed to have a 7:30 tee time! All 12 of them! In yet I had a 7:27 tee time! I'm not sure how many of them actually paid and I'm sure the course doesn't either!! Play was very slow. There was not signage to support the truncated 9 hole golf course. You play 1,2, then jump to 12 with no signs or card to tell you which hole is next or where it is! They should just close the course until they get their act together!!
What the heck happened?
This place needs to just close its doors & become area housing like they have done to a majority of the course. The current layout of 9 holes only & you play it twice is awful, no rangers, no starters, people who must just hate their jobs because not one friendly smile at all especially from the Pro Shop staff member who seemed like I ruined his day coming in to play. The course is garbage right now with so many gopher holes & dry patches on fairways soaked areas around the greens, hidden holes that I actually stepped into today & nearly broke my ankle, so be prepared to wait on every hole, & try to figure out how you go from 1,2 to 12-18 for 9 total holes $25 is still too much for this dog track, spend a little more & play at another area course.
Decent price for what you get...
As most reviewers have already mentioned, they only have a modified 9 holes open due to construction that blocks access to the other 9 holes north of the train tracks. The prices on GolfNow are for the playing the same 9 holes twice until the construction is complete, but at the course you can tell them you only want to play 9 and it’s $5 less. If the course is really busy, don’t play the 18 because as you’re teeing off on #1, the group coming off their “#9” will be coming up behind you fast and it can get quite bunched up.
I’ve played here many times over the years, and it’s about the same as it has been in the past. Greens were the best part by far, most tee boxes were in poor shape, and some fairways were quite overgrown to the point you couldn’t tell the difference between the first cut and the fairway (and in many parts of the course had dried out patches).
Under Construction
This course was under construction. In order to play 18 holes your completed the first 9 and then replayed those same 9 holes. Very simple course and easy to play. Wasn’t very exciting.
Decent price for what you get
Went out around 10AM with my group and only played the modified 9 holes. When we arrived it seemed like a pretty light Sunday given the time especially, but it quickly got crowded. We’ve played here a lot over the years, and the course played similarly to how we remembered it. Greens were the best part of the the course by far, some tee boxes were in dire need of some TLC, and the fairways were quite overgrown in some spots (to the point where it was quite indistinguishable whether there was even a difference between the first cut and the fairway) and burned dry in other areas.
Obviously the ongoing construction is definitely creating a bit of a challenge for golfers to be able to play a full round, as you can only play the same 9 holes twice. But, the price is decent for 9 holes, and for $5 more you can play the same holes again. They had plenty of carts for people to properly be able to social distance on the course. But I imagine that if the course was to get really busy, it would be more difficult to do so given that when your group is teeing off on #1, you can expect the other group coming up from “#9” to be right on your tail. It really affects the pace of play, and can make you feel a little on edge for the first few holes trying to navigate through the jumble.
Bottom line, if you’re looking for an inexpensive “18 hole” experience, take advantage of the deal...otherwise look elsewhere.
Green River always a good time :)
Course was in tough shape. Greens were bumpy and balls weren’t rolling that well. However it’s a great course and always challenging especially the longer par 4’s.. great staff and awesome breakfast croissants. For the price it’s a no brained. With the course only play 9-holes twice that is why course is probably a little rough. When they get all 18 back I’m sure it will be in much better shape
Fun course
I've played Green River many times and enjoyed it. The problem this time it only had 9 holes open there was some kind of work being done near the railroad tracks and all the holes on the north side were off limits. Golf Now did not tell us this, but we paid a discounted rate. I will not play here again until the entire course is open.
