Gilroy Golf Course
About
It might not have a lot of competition, but Gilroy Golf Course dubs itself as the "Best 11-Hole Golf Course in America." Built by local farmers and businessmen in 1923, this unique 11-hole routing east of Santa Cruz features small greens and wide, tree-lined fairways set along the Uvas Valley that has changed very little since its founding. Though not a full 18, the golf course is still plenty challenging, including the 245-yard par-3 8th hole, a scenic tee shot considered to be the course's signature. Gilroy Golf Course has suitable BBQ and outing facilities for larger groups.

Best value we could find :-)
Visiting CA from Michigan the course was very nice and plenty challenging for average golfers like the two of us.
Very nice course and friendly staff. We appreciate reasonably priced golf courses.
Gorgeous weather, great value
Unbelievably nice weather (although it was pretty breezy at the start). greens were a little thin. Staff recommended GolfNow as we were checking in so I did it on my iPhone. Worked great! saved some additional bucks.
Hi "twtanner98" Thanks for the great review! We are so pleased you enjoyed your round, great to hear you found an excellent deal on golfnow.
Best bang for your buck
Haven't played here in a couple of years. During that time they've put a lot of work into the course and it shows !!! With the exception of one green, the greens were VERY nice. The fairways were in great shape but the rough was VERY rough-thick-tall. The cart paths are pretty bad. The one bunker I landed in had 1/2 " of sand over mud underneath (a common prob at other courses). but the course overall was in GREAT shape. Thanks for the greens-keepers' efforts!! It shows.!!! The staff are VERY nice, and the food in the cafe was excellent. It has a "small-town" felel that I very much like. Nobody I met was cranky. Now the down sides: the range is dismal... the pro shop, cafe, and restrooms are in desperate need of a face lift.. however, for the price THIS PLACE ROCKS. We'll be back !!
Thank you so much for taking the time to review our course! We greatly appreciate any and all feedback. Thank you for the amazing feedback on the conditions of our course. I apologize for the restrooms and cafe not being up to par. We are so glad you enjoyed your time with us and we look forward to seeing you again! Thanks again
Draught resistent
Greens and fairways in great shape given draught. Better than many higher priced courses. Cart paths tough. 11 hole format makes the turn and the 7th and 16th holes a challenge. Greens challenging. Overall good experience and great value.

Course in transition
Nice public course. They are updating a few areas, like the 8th hole, so that impaired a good game. There are only 9 holes, and there is a confusing shift in the so-called back 9 (the 7th / 16th hole combination). The greens were in great shape, tee boxes okay, and the fairways generally good. Cart path, if you can call it that, is a patchwork of asphalt, rocks and dirt. Makes for a bumpy ride. But there's something quaint about it all. Worth a trip back.
Hi "u000006796883" we are pleased that you enjoyed your trip and round at Gilroy Golf Course. We are a very unique course that is definitely worth your trip here. Please come back and visit us soon. Thanks!
Amazing condition for the price
OK, it's not a full golf course. It's 11 holes with some extra tee boxes that don't make that much difference. And the cafe closed (presumably for lack of business as the course was empty) so the guy in the pro shop had to let us in to select sodas!
But it's in very good condition (except for two greens), it's quite a nice layout, more challenging than you might think, and very, very, cheap for the area. Oh, and did I mention the weather was superb and the course was empty so pace of play is up to you. All in all a great round of golf if a little repetitive because of the 11 holes business ....

Great course for the money
The course is in great shape, except for the two greens under repair. The 11 but 18 hole configuration is kinda cool and the deer and turkey on the fairways is great.

One of the greatest values in Golf
I have golfed at Gilroy for many years. The staff always greets me with a smile, and treats me like an old friend. It's the oldest public golf course in Santa Clara County. It's a country course with no houses on the course, with beautiful views. The conditions aren't what you would find at the 80.00 per round courses, but I like the charm and simplicity of this historic course, and you can't beat the price.

Dry
Dry conditions but course fairways in decent shape. One of the greens in under repair with a temp green in place. One other green should be under repair.

Good value
Some holes were under repair but we played 18 holes in just over 3 hours. It's a 9 hole course, so you play the same 9 over again from different tee locations. There are some challenging greens and blind shots. This makes for a good challenge for any level golfer. It was $25 including the cart. Good value for 18 holes
Hi "Jeffjr9" Thanks for the great review, we are glad you enjoyed your round with us. Don't forget to book your next round with us July 4th weekend!
11Hole Course?
Much better course then I expected. The course was beautifully maintained and the scenery was awesome. The only negative was that I booked when the greens were being aerated but for $10 with a cart, its still a great deal.
Thank you for the great feedback! We look forward to seeing you again!
Well maintained
First time playing this course. Good bang for your buck. It is well maintained!
We really appreciate the positive feedback! We hope that you come back soon to see us!
This course is fun
Great value, lots of fun. The greens can be tough when it is dry.
Nice variety of holes. Georgeous vistas. Peaceful surroundings.
This is a fun course for Grandma, Son and Grandson. No rush. People were very friendly. Some challenging greens.
nice course, good value
first time here, enjoyed the round. would like to know the meaning behind white vs black tees, and the sporadic gold or blue tees. (i presumed women and seniors, however they seemed inconsistant, and the white and black exchanged which was the longer so if one's a tournament tee, it's odd that it wasn't always the harder)
a couple greens were rough, one was under repair and using a temporary, but overall they were pretty good, esp. given the drought conditions. has approx. 12 holes, 9 straight through, and if you play the back, some duplicate and there are a few different ones to play on the second run through which looks interesting. staff was friendly and unobtrusive. we played terribly, but that was our fault, not that of the course. :-)
Golf
Good for the money but not for full price. They need to pave cart paths.
What a wait
After waiting an hour and a half for my t time on a pre paid golf now deal. The course was slow due to a tournament that was not poated on webpage. Waste of a Sunday. Reason i wanted to tee of at 845
