Chateau Elan Golf Club - Woodlands Course

Honestly I think the price break to play this course is a gift from the golf gods because it’s definitely worth the price! Excellent greens, fairways, and course in general.

I can say that I have never had any bad experiences at Chateau Elan, on either course, and the staff is always accommodating. The courses are always consistent. From tee to green, they’re in good shape. Denis Griffith’s courses are always fun.

Nice layout. Great shape. Nice bent grass greens, but players need to repair ball marks. Teed off at 10:30 and never saw anyone ahead of us until the 16th green. Enjoyed our round.

The course is in great shape. The bent grass greens were rolling at a nice pace.

Great staff and enjoyable round for myself and my wife.

Course was pretty tuff. Had a great layout.

Had a great time front 9 had a lot of houses but the back 9 was great mostly all wooded. Weather came in at the last 2 holes but we were able to finish.Went to car to drop off clubs & attendants came to car to get golf cart (bad weather). Not that crowded for a Friday afternoon not feeling rushed next time Son comes to town we will play there again!

For early in the season the course is in great shape and if you like fast greens that putt true you would enjoy playing here

Winter conditions but overall not in bad shape . Greens were rough but it was early season. Want to come back after it warms up.

The Woodlands course can be a challenge. I thought the course was in good condition considering the time of year. The pace of play was a little on the slow side but I did play on a Friday afternoon on what was probably the nicest day of the year. The staff treated me well and we saw the beverage cart multiple times during the round.

All staff were great, from the guy who set up our clubs to the Pro Shop to the girl who helped with clubs and cart at the end! The course, however, needs some work from a female player perspective. The tee boxes were in bad shape with little to no grass. The position of the women’s tee boxes weren’t the best, either. Off to the sides, too far forward in some cases. The fairways were decent, and will be in good shape with warmer weather upon us. The greens were very good, but a little bumpy at times. Got a deal on Golf Now, so it was an ok value, but the best value for women is on Sundays direct through the course. I hope the new ownership puts some money and effort into both courses. They have potential to be really good!

The Woodlands Course At Chateau Elan is an excellent challenge for golfers of all levels. The course starts off with four pretty tough holes so be ready to play form the get go. Moving forward there are plenty of holes that yield scoring opportunities.

Each hole is carved out of wooded areas that frame the greens and fairways. Good course management is a must. The shorter holes will tempt long hitters to be aggressive which may be rewarded, but only if execution is spot on. Well placed shorter tee shots are recommended and will yield reasonable 2nd shots into the well designed green complexes.

Good course management doesn't stop with the tee shot. Many of the greens are multilevel which can leave the careless approach shot with an 80 putt. It is wise to always be below any pin placement! The greens are fast but fair.

All things considered, Woodlands is a most enjoyable track even with dormant Bermuda rough and 50 degree temperatures. I'll be back.

Well maintained course, carts, clubhouse, great staff... Greens in great shape, but challenging.

Course is in great shape. It does need an out staff that understands course management. Starter sends 4 groups to tee box at 1 time. I knew I was looking at 6 hours. Played 12 holes in 4.15 mins!!! Then drove in and saw 1 group playing from tips that would have had trouble from red tee, no ranger!!!! Then watched group of 5 playing next hole. 16, 17 and 18 wide open. Just don't play on weekend!!!

Greens were perfect, a little fast, and breaking true. Yet, greens are soft enough to hold approach shots.

Fairways and tees where beautiful.

We play at Chateau Elan often and always enjoy being there. The staff is excellent, from bag drop to pro shop and lounge. The Woodlands course is not my favorite, as opposed to Chateau, which is a little more open. Some greens were a little spotty, as some weather may have gotten to it, but the tee-boxes, fairways, traps and area around greens are always superb. This is a great course for the intermediate golfer, as well as the experienced ones. Might be a little challenging for newcomers. For a real treat, head to lunch or dinner at Chateau hotel and get a great meal afterwards.
