Great Value. Stop overbooking on the weekends.
Greens are in good shape. Course is a great value for the money. But 5 1/2 round on Saturday took alot of the fun out of the round.
Swampwest
Bad drainage. Simple as that. I played here about 4 days after it had rained pretty hard, and the place was a mud pit. Pretty nice price (I got a cart + noon-ish tee time for $18 on a golfnow 'hotdeal'), but there were 5 or 6 holes (3, 4 & 6 were rediculous) that had very large, deep puddles of water & mud in the middle of the fairways right at 250-275 yds out...yuck.
I'd try it again in the summer if that price still comes up but in the wet months, this place is a definite skip, sorry.
Course was ONLY OK
Course has some standing water!Thought this was
a drought...this course doesn`t "drain" well. The greens were slow and bumpy...some with coot
chit....pace of play was OK....I liked that it said
"play all you want/includes cart" I played 27 holes.
One problem is when I went to 1...they guy came
out to ask why I was still playing...but I remembered to bring the "print out" of my Golf Now tee time....the
fact that he didn`t KNOW that was lame.
It's a muni
I almost didn't play this course because it recently got ripped in some reviews but I did find what people said about the course helpful....
-It's an affordable muni run by Hayward Parks & Rec so it's important to manage expectations.
-Conditioning is probably what you would expect from your local muni-not great, I agree with what someone said, summer is probably the ideal time to play. But I thought for what it is it was conditioning was fine.
-They have a driving range......flat like the course. Targets are yellow yardage banners.
-Flat course,...... on this winter day conditions were soft and seemed to play longer than listed yardage. Plenty of trees on the course come into play.
-My experience with the greens weren't as bad as what others had said-the greens surprisingly can have a lot of slope on them so the uphill putts can seem very slow although downhill weren't terrifying.
-We played about 2-3 days after a huge storm.......It's not an all start drainer but most of the course held up OK but maybe 2-3 holes had a ton of really soft areas and 1 was filled with huge areas of casual water making it almost unplayable.
-Par 3s may be the best holes on the course.
-Relatively new/modernized club house but didn't eat or drink there
This is a course that I'd play if a deal came up as probably wouldn't be a top tier choice but if you're looking to play for a reasonable rate then it's a viable option.
Course water drain
#4 hole ,par 5 is one of the worse darin in the whole golf course but for the price is OK by me consedering this problem.Over all is not bad . The green is so much improvement since the last time I played here.
skywest
Very poor condition. Greens inconsistent. Some freshly cut some not. Most are rough. Fivesomes are allowed so you will be there forever and long waits. OK for raw beginners only.
Its getting better
Greens inconsistant, but heading in right direction. Poor drainage. I like this course in the summer. I wish the fifth hole par five wasnt covered in bird doodoo on the green. Doesnt contribute to a nice roll at all. I love golf anytime, but not the greatest. I would recommend if you can get a cheap green fee on golfnow.
Course is in bad shape
The course is in real bad shape. The fairways are non existent and in some places water logged. I would never play here again.
Walk
After the weekend rains the course was soggy as
expected but played good. The hard part is waiting
on every hole for the group in front to finish playing
each hole. Sometime both groups were in the fairway on par fives. Not worth renting a cart for sure. Greens very bumpy not rolled very often.
Good long holes but average condition
We played the day after it had rained and there was standing water in many places as well as pools in many bunkers. Not good drainage. Lots of airport noise and bird droppings. On the plus side the length and challenge of course is good and is a reasonably good value if you can overlook the cons.
Good Day
The weather was good and the course was as good as it could be since we are in a drought. Had a great round.
Good value. Long course.
Good value for the money. Course is long, but forgiving. Some cool airplanes fly by from the Hayward Airport.
A lot of seniors play during the week days so can be delay.
Sometimes seniors play slowly especially week days. But it is cheap and value for money.
Fun day on Sunday morning
Good day for Golf - perfect Fall weather and was hanging out with some new friends.
Greens were in great condition, no aeration marks. Course was a little littered from the big winds and the nearby eucalyptus trees - not clean up as yet.
While this course is very flat, the fairways are lined from tips to greens with various trees. Water is in play a few times. Most greens slope back to front, with pin placements occasionally on a slope - making it somewhat challenging.
Have fun!
Good course great value
Great value. Was amazed at the size of the course. Getting to hole 12 stunk. Need to have a sign after 11 pointing to hole 12
ROLL THE GREENS!!!
The course is flat with a few water hazards, fairways are mostly OK but the greens are in need of TLC and it's apparent they never get rolled so putting is absolutely a frustrating experience!
Great Value in the Bay Area
This was my second time playing 18 at Skywest. As far as I can tell it's a great value for the money, at least in the bay area. Very straight, wide fairways which are great for those trying to get the hang of golf for the first time or those just trying to have a more fun, more carefree round. Water hazard is in play on a few holes but its nothing that can't be easily hit over if you are aware of your distances. I'm sure I will be back at Skywest in the next few weeks. Only problem we had was losing balls in the fairway because of a windstorm that blew debris all over most of the fairways the night before. Not a big deal but it does make the round that much longer.
Inexpensive but you get what you pay for
The course is probably in the best condition that I have seen it in years. That is the good news. The greens however require some attention. They are shaggy and bumpy. Please not that this is an improvement as a few years back most of the greens had giant brown patches of dirt on them. This course still needs a bit more work.
Great bloody marys in the bar however!
decent value but greens need care
paid $35 to ride on a Sunday afternoon (actually I walked) via golfnow.com The course is very flat and easily walkable. I carried my bag vs using push cart. Course was open, no one in front and no one behind our 3some. The only real issue were the greens being shaggy and bumpy. They obviously needed to be mown as grass was so long that putts frequently did not stay online.
