Cherokee Run Golf Club
About
Nestled amongst the gently rolling hills of Rockdale County, Cherokee Run Golf Club lies within the Georgia International Horse Park. Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay designed the course. Occupied for centuries by the Cherokee Indians, dozens of arrowheads were found in the Georgian red clay as the golf course was being built. The beautiful landscape is covered in granite outcroppings, native wetlands, and dense hardwood forests. The towering trees line the fairways and the steep inclines throughout the course provide fast, undulating greens. Water hazards come into play on six holes at Cherokee Run Golf Club and there are nearly 100 strategically placed bunkers. The course's signature hole is the par-3 third. This challenging hole demands an accurate tee shot in order to safely make it past the sand bunkers that border both sides of the fairway.

Opinion
This course is okay but expensive compared to other courses. We had 3 players and paid 138.00
Good course expensive though
This is a good challenging course however it’s expensive compared to other courses and I don’t feel you get the value for the price
Hi, thank you for the five-star review! We appreciate you sharing your feedback and we hope that you will consider coming back soon.
Cherokee Run Golf Course
Great course, great people! It was a little dry, but that’s Atlanta’s lack of rainfall, not the courses issue. Loved the layout.

Great Course
Considering the heat and dryness the Southeast has seen over the last few weeks, I was pleasantly surprised as to the conditions. Greens rolled very true with good speed and held balls from the fairway. Fairways were being watered and were in quite good shape too. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Layout is phenomenal with enough room for missed shots and plenty of challenge from the back tees. One of my new favorites in the ATL area and I’ll be back!

Excellent condition, fast greens, great track! 2nd or 3rd time I have played course. Don't get above the hole! If you like a challenge then this is your place. Really nice staff too! I'll be back.

Nice course
The course was in great condition. The greens were very nice. It is a pretty tough layout, lots of elevation changes. I would definitely recommend to golfers who play regularly. A bit tough for casual golfers.

Monster
This course was a beast, when I get done I feel like I had been choke slammed. Overall the course was in great condition with some of the best dreams I’ve played on in a long time. The only problem I had was pace of play, every single shot we hit we had to wait ,the round ended up taking 5 1/2 hours.
Hi David, thank you for the five-star review! We are glad that you enjoyed the layout. We appreciate you letting us know about pace of play. We hope that next time will be better.
Great greens and fairways
The course was in great shape. The greens and fairways were A+. I wasn’t a big fan of the blind shots, but the GPS loaded carts helped alleviate the angst. Cherokee is a very fair test. I’m all in at $30 (golf now hot deal) for a round of golf, especially a course like this. I will be back.

Love the green
A little farther away from home but enjoy driving extra miles while thinking about playing on the course

Play the Run
Even after rain the evening and night before, course was 90 degree rule :) greens are being grown out a little, still some quick down hill putts. Stay below the hole will give you a chance. Most approach shot to the greens are up hill. A Few blind tee shots but the GPS is super handy.
Two of my playing partners were unable to play with me and Customer Care was very professional and allow for hot deal credits in the future. Worth the drive, looo forward to quicker greens but might my score card higher but a cool course!

Well Maintained Course
I played this course for the first time and I was very impressed. The fairways were in excellent condition, as well as the greens. This course offers a lot of challenges for the beginner to the intermediate player,. Nothing is just a gimme.
This the best maintained course I have played on this year and it is still early in the season.

Worth the drive (From ATL)
Cherokee Run blows away nearly every metro-ATL public course. It is a bit longer drive unless you live on the south side of the city, but it is absolutely worth the drive. This course is very difficult.
A list of things I love about Cherokee Run
1. Far away from anything considered busy
2. Old Olympic horse grounds create a beautiful scenery on the way in and while playing
3. Course conditions are incredible for a public course
4. Greens and bunkers are in great condition
5. The range is big enough, there are chipping and bunker greens, putting green is nearly the same role as the course greens
6. The course offers a great mix of open fairways with doglegs requiring layups or shaped shots
7. GPS on the carts (very important for blind shots)
8. THE VALUE FOR THE MONEY IS TOP NOTCH!!!
A few things I don't like about Cherokee Run
1. It is decently far if you live in Midtown or north of there
2. The driving range could be manicured better
3. Clubhouse gets the job done but nothing special
4. A ball in the woods is rarely worth checking for. It's safe to say that GA is known for poison ivy and a few venomous snakes. (Best not to venture too far in the brush. Take your medicine if your ball appears lost)
Overall this course is a MUST PLAY for Intermediate and Above-Average golfers in metro-ATL. This is not a "shank the ball around" type of course. For your own sake and the sake of those playing behind you, do not bring your children here and play up a set of tees if you are not confident.
Hi Jarred, thank you for the five stars! We are so happy that you consider making the trip out here worth it and enjoyed playing Cherokee Run Golf Club. Thanks for stopping by, and we can't wait to see you again soon.
The Bells and Whistles
The course was fairly difficult for a newer golfer like myself but I managed. Some of the Par 3s are so far that I couldn’t manage to Birdie if I tried. But the Par4s and 5s were nice and I even managed to birdie the 8 that everyone seems to hate based on these reviews. (I’m a lefty so I sliced a little and it it played perfect). I really liked the extra amenities though. On one side of the golf cart we had a cooler for our drinks and the other side had a ball wash and a place to wash your irons. Right above the windshield you had a gps touchscreen monitor. The monitor allows you to see where you are on the course so you don’t get lost and as you approach a hole the information for that hole appears. It has GPS on the other carts as well and they show up on your map to ensure you have clearance to tee off. You can touch the screen to mark on the hole map and it will tell you the distance from where you’re at and distance from the hole with that shot. This allows you to easily plan out your approach before you even tee off. I really enjoyed it and will be back again soon.
