Cherokee Run Golf Club
About
Nestled amongst the gently rolling hills of Rockdale County, Cherokee Run Golf Club lies within the Georgia International Horse Park. Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay designed the course. Occupied for centuries by the Cherokee Indians, dozens of arrowheads were found in the Georgian red clay as the golf course was being built. The beautiful landscape is covered in granite outcroppings, native wetlands, and dense hardwood forests. The towering trees line the fairways and the steep inclines throughout the course provide fast, undulating greens. Water hazards come into play on six holes at Cherokee Run Golf Club and there are nearly 100 strategically placed bunkers. The course's signature hole is the par-3 third. This challenging hole demands an accurate tee shot in order to safely make it past the sand bunkers that border both sides of the fairway.

Great, Hilly and Challenging
. Great course and challenging. Did a lot of walking due the weather, about six holes were cart path only.
Hi John, thank you for the five-star review! We are so glad that you had a good experience with us the other day. We'll see you again soon!
After a long time, I experienced a golf course with a high degree of intolerance. I am 1 hour away from home, but I will visit often.
Best winter golf
Coming down from Boston for the holidays, this was the best option for a great day of golf.
Wet conditions
But there is zoysia fairways for good lies and slick Bermuda for good rolls on the greens. Good conditions for a public course
Difficult Nice Course
Been playing this course since opening during 96 Olympics. Not for the beginner by any means ,difficult course for average golfer from any tees. Zoysia fairways with extremely nice fast greens. Very friendly staff always and great amenities. Bring your BEST game, you will need it.
I love the challenge.
Bad weather great course
Weather was cold windy and wet, but the course held up great and increased my appreciation for the job they do.
One of the best in metro Atlanta
First time playing. I was very impressed with the course. Great layout and great shape. I will be back! Only thing that ruined the day was playing behind an Asian tournament. Talk about slow.
Perfect golf course
Cherokee run is the best golf course east of Atlanta by far hands down. Let's put it like this I walked away with 34 putts when I average 26.
Great Track
I must say this course is a gem and the value is top notch. Playing the front 9 I didn’t think much of it. I didn’t hit a drive for the first 4 or 5 holes. A few quirky holes and 3 shot par 5s that I wasn’t a huge fan of but after playing the back my opinion changed. I love the back 9. Everything that is quirky and tough about the front is flipped 180 degrees on the back. Both par 5s are reachable in 2 and other holes are very scoreable. I love the balance between the 2 nines. The greens are the best public greens I have played in ATL. They were quick and true. A few bunkers in need of cleanup but that’s to be expected after the 24 hours of rain we have had. I do have to say from tee to green the back 9 seemed to be in a little better shape but I’m really just being picky. Go out at play Cherokee Run! You won’t regret it! I can’t believe I swung a golf now deal for $22. I’d pay the normal rate to play there.
Great course but very difficult!!!!
This is great course but it’s not a course for beginners! This course is not for beginners at all. Beautiful course but I’ll not play it again until I get better.
Great value
Great challenging course for the money. Best greens around. Beautiful layout.
Tournament was being played
Everything was great with the #1 thing that ruins Golf.....slow play. A tournament was being played and I got behind some guys playin Best Ball. My great grandmother could have played faster. A little less talk and a lot more action would have been nice. Oh well, there will be another day for golf.
Truly excellent from start to finish
We had one of our best experiences on a course we were trying for the first time today. The course is beautiful....excellent condition. The staff could not have been more friendly. Pace was spot on and the course is the right level of challenging. Even great, diverse food and beer options! Can’t wait to go back.
Great course!!!
The best course in the area. The staff is pleasant and refreshing.
Up/Down! Up/Down!
Course is great with many, many elevation changes..
One of the best in Gerogia
This was my 2nd time playing the course. Some really interesting holes that make you ponder club selection. Went out before and outing and caught a 5-some not part of the outing. They let me play through but I suppose this isn’t normal practice to let out a 5-some, as a three some was quickly approaching to also be on their take. My only negative comment is a few tee boxes were in rough shape but they had gotten quite a bit of rain so I suspect that will be addressed as the fairway are well groomed and the greens are immaculate on almost every hole making them very fast. A true pleasure to play and I will be back as I’ve found another great challenge.
