2012 renovation starting to show its age
LasPo went through a major renovation in 2012 and for 5-6 years or so, it held up well. You’d drive by the course off 580 and would see those gleaming white bunkers… and the course played as well as it looked.
Going on 10 years post renovation, it’s about back to where it was pre-renovation. It’s still a fun course and the fairways and greens are in generally great shape for this price point. I also understand how expensive bunkers are to maintain… but man, I miss the days of fluffy white sand. They’re basically just cement holes at this point.
One of my favorite parts about this course is that it doesn’t feel like there are a bunch of side-by-side holes, but it’s really forgiving for errant tee shots. If I get beat up off the tee at another course one day (eg Bridges), I’ll go play LasPo to get that confidence off the tee back.
All in all, good course that was great for a few years.
Always fun to play
Las Po remains one of my favorite places to play and I play everywhere. It’s a reliable enjoyable course. Layout of holes is great and the greens are the best in the area and I’m not exaggerating. They run true and roll fast and have no holes or bare patches anywhere. The course is a bit rough around the edges and I hope some day they will invest in cleaning it up but keep the ball in play on the fairways and it’s in fantastic shape. Great variation of different hole types keeps it fun. If I’m on my game I break 80 here and if I’m a bit off it can penalize and I’m scrambling to break 90. That’s what I like about it. Grab dinner/lunch and a beer at Beebs after your round looking out on the course. Great spot!
