Situated within the Oakland Hills, Lake Chabot Golf Course offers stunning views that stretch across Oakland, Bay Bridge, and the Lake Chabot area. The course has been a local favorite since it first opened in 1932. Slight changes have been made over the years to improve the layout but it has always maintained its playability. The terrain is hilly, which makes flat lies hard to find. Accuracy and precise shot placement will get you far. The stretch of holes from the 15th to the finish has the best scenery on the golf course. From the risk-reward 15th hole, you can see all the way to San Francisco. The unique final hole is a par 6 that plays to a whopping 673 yards from the back tees. It's a straight, downhill hole with a memorable view.

Always Love A Day Out At Chabot!

Another great time! Have always loved this course. Great condition considering the 'drought" conditions in CA right now.

Staff is always great - this time around the snack shack lady didn't have coffee readily available, so went all the way back to the club house and drove the cup o'joe out to me on the next hole - AMAZING!!

Lake Chabot is great fun

I have played Chabot a couple of times now and it is always pretty fun. Especially fun this time as the course was nearly empty (SF 49ers had a playoff game vs GB) and the weather was great. Course was a bit dry because of the dought, but that made for good roll in january and the greens were fast.

Great Golf & Great Views

I like to play different courses and will travel a far if the savings pay for my gas. That said this is the first time playing this course. This was a very challenging course with some narrow fairways, some wide open fairways, lots of uphill and downhill shots, blind shots and a downhill par 6 to end it, was a lot of fun. The fairways were in great shape as were the greens with some tough pin placements. Also didn't have to hit out of 1 sand trap, that was a first. I went out on my own and teamed up with a couple of brothers on the 9th hole. The afternoon was quiet and we were not pushed at all and finished the round in just under 4 hours. Holes 15 thru 17 offer some spectacular views of the Bay, Oakland & San Francisco. The 18th par 6, the most fun hole I have ever played. It goes down hill and when you get near that last shot it goes back up hill but you can't see that from where you are at, course knowledge. This course is well worth playing, I will play it again.

Just great right now

This is the best any of our foursome have ever seen Chabot. The greens were rolling GREAT and the fairways were in very nice condition with no tree debris as is sometimes the case. Go play there now.

Great course with magnificent views!

A very challenging course with hardly any flat lies. Many times you're hitting to a very elevated green so choose your club wisely! The views are stunning and the 18th hole is a unique experience as it's the only par 6 that I've ever played. This is a wonderful course to play.

Very Nice course

Got to course early for 7:45 T time. I was a single so they sent me out earlier @ 7:15. Course played fast about 3 1/2 hours. I had not played course in 8 years or so. It was in very good shape. Greens were nice and ran true, a little soft but putted nicely. Fairways were in good condition and ran nicely. Overall course for a daily fee track was in good condition! Staff were very friendly and helpful. Not a long course but was a fun track to play.

Good course for a muni

Pros: Great elevation changes. Greens were aerated but ran true. Friendly staff. Amazing views on the back 9. Very reasonable price. The lady running the Food Shack on 3 is awesome.

Cons: Irons only driving range. Course needs some attention although I understand it's way better than it use to be. Automobile road runs through the middle of the course which is a bit odd.

Highly recommend for a great muni course.

Very hilly, but fun

I played the course in part to play a par 6 hole. Generally the course was challenging because of the hills. The greens were well maintained while the fairways do need some work. Overall Thais was a fun round of golf.

Love this course

It is always a lot of fun playing Lake Chabot. No even lies, unusual hole layouts, a lot of up and down. Course was in pretty good condition - would be nice if fellow players would repair ball marks! I go as a single and have always been paired up with very nice friendly people who tolerate my 100+ golf game..wish I could play there more.

Love this course. Love it's location and views. It even has a 9-hole Par-3 course that I didn't know about.

I've only played here 3 times, but Lake Chabot is becoming one of my favorites. The staff is very friendly and the facility is well maintained. The course is challenging with it's small greens and the par-6 18th. They even have a 9-hole par-3 course that we plan to try soon.

Fun track, but pace of play is excruciating on the weekend

This course has some really fun holes, but if you plan to play on the weekend, PLAY EARLY!! We made the mistake of playing for the first time here with a 10:07 tee time because we drove up from San Jose. Just under 3 hours and we were barely getting off the 6th green! 6 1/2 hours to finish our round. The beautiful views, the extremely elevated par 3 9th and the awesome par 6 18th were not enough to make up for the pace play here.

I would recommend playing here, EARLY. I can't begin to stress that enough!

Good course but disappointed by bottom line.

Good course. Great, friendly pro-shop and starter. We were disappointed by the fact that we were charged for a cart even though we walked the course. This was $16 dollars we had to spend because of their policy of charging the Golfnow listed price regardless of whether you are walking or riding. I use Golfnow to book regularly and then walk when I get there almost every time and this only time I have have ever been charged for the cart when it wasn't used. I expressed my displeasure with this policy and I was told it was put in place by a person who's name escapes me, assumed head pro...anyway even the staff didnt agree we should be charged but they had no choice. This did leave a bad taste in our mouths...which is too bad because we enjoyed the course and would have returned. We all drive about 30 minutes to play Chabot...plenty of courses passed in that 30 minute drive...why should we keep driving next time?

good value

Lake Chabot golf course

One of the oldest established golf courses in the Bay Area, Lake Chabot is A "working man's", no frills golf course. The staff is friendly and helpful and the course is generally well maintained with notable recent improvements to the drainage systems, tee boxes and greens. A good value for the price.

Different elevations made club selection challenging

Would have enjoyed the round if not for a slow group if front of the group that was ahead of us. No marshals were around to speed up play. Our 3-some had to wait to hit on all 18 holes. Great hot dog at 12.

Awesome 9th hole, 141 yds. straight down! 600+ par 6 on he 18th

Fun course...tons of elevation changes. A couple real nice holes including nice views of the Bay Area. San Francisco and Oakland in the same panoramic snap shot.
Only negative was that there was a 20 minute delay at start with several backups throughout the course. Took 6 hours to finish the round.
Overall it is a fun course and for the price a great deal if your looking for a large 18 to play.
