Originally designed by Chandler Egan in 1932, the first nince holes takes you through the forested areas of Pacific Grove. Egan's nine takes you through an inland terrain and reflects much of the charm of an English rural course done in the old style.

The back nine was designed by Jack Neville, the original designer of the Pebble Beach Links. It opened in 1960, and is laid out in true links design over dunesland that approaches the sea.

Over looking the course is the Point Pinos Lighthouse. Built in 1855, it is the longest continuously operating lighthouse in California. It is a historical sentinel and picturesque landmark of the golf course.

A scenic tour of the dramatic coastline provides views of Lover's Point, Point Pinos, Crespi Pond and the natural dunesland at Asilomar. You will be enchanted by the abundance of natural wonders such as the plentiful Pacific Blacktail Deer, seals, sea lions, sea otters, pelicans and gulls.

Poor mans pebble

One of my favorite courses to play. Wide open fairways, greens are well kept. The weather was perfect today. The pace was good, not much back up.

Poor Man's Pebble Beach but a Grand Time

Golfers heading down to the Monterey Peninsula often make the usual, grand stops but a trip to the area truly isn't complete without checking out this track. Sure, the front 9 is pretty standard with some tight layouts that might have you searching for your ball in a neighboring fairway, but the real bang for your buck is the absolutely gorgeous back 9. The true links experience with ocean views on every hole is absolutely breathtaking and a reminder of the true spirit of golf. We also caught it on a great weather day so that was helpful! Amid COVID-19, they've done a great job of keeping the operation going safely. Looking forward to coming back soon!

Great value beautiful views

I ws in the Monterey area from NJ visiting family. Got some time to play golf and heard about Pacific Grove. Very friendly staff when getting a tee time and renting Titleist clubs. Met a fellow visitor on the first tee and we played as a 2some. Moved along at a nice pace and didn't wait at all. Let some singles play through but were not rushed. Course does not beat you up. Enjoyed playing the front 9 with seeing deer. Greens were very true and quick. When getting to the anticipated back 9, I was not disappointed. Beautiful views. Took lots of pictures and didn't hold anyone up. Nicely layed out. Greens were a bit slower but still true. Very enjoyable. Great value. Cannot wait to play there again.

Course in good shape from tee to green..views on the back nine makes you regret having to play the front nine..no bathroom on the back until 17th..driving range mats & balls from the 1980’s...played twice in a week on hot deals & enjoyed this course for the price.

greens and fairways

some greens were bumpy and some fairways not much grass. A little cold and cloudy but otherwise an enjoyable round. If the sun was out it would have been a great day.

Pebble for the poor man

You simply cannot ask for a more challenging course than this beauty. Greens are true link style small. The par 3’s will smack you around. The back 9 are photo backdrops, so be ready to get the camera out when you can!

Good time.

It is touted as the poor mans Pebble Beach. True to its name. Front nine was very so-so but back nine is nice and the views are spectacular. For the money it is a great round of golf. As a bonus the staff is very friendly and accommodating.

Amazing round!

What a nice way to spend a spectacular sunny day than on the edge of the Monterey Bay. No wind, sunshine and lots of happy folks on the course. The course was challenging and in great shape! ❤️

Fantastic value!!!

Love this course! For the area it is an extremely great value. The back 9 is along has beautiful ocean views, that are stunning. It is a muni course so it's not pristine like Pebble Beach and it is in good shape. Lots of character. I always recommend this course to me friends.

Terrific value in a beautiful, serene setting.

Just as advertised. Skirted some showers but stayed mostly dry throughout. The rain scared away my partners so I cruised thru solo in just 3.5 hrs. Front nine runs thru beautiful forest teeming with families of deer that will walk right up to you. Back nine loaded with beautiful ocean vistas and quite a lot of sand. Easy layout & fun all around. Highly recommend.
