Originally designed by Chandler Egan in 1932, the first nince holes takes you through the forested areas of Pacific Grove. Egan's nine takes you through an inland terrain and reflects much of the charm of an English rural course done in the old style.

The back nine was designed by Jack Neville, the original designer of the Pebble Beach Links. It opened in 1960, and is laid out in true links design over dunesland that approaches the sea.

Over looking the course is the Point Pinos Lighthouse. Built in 1855, it is the longest continuously operating lighthouse in California. It is a historical sentinel and picturesque landmark of the golf course.

A scenic tour of the dramatic coastline provides views of Lover's Point, Point Pinos, Crespi Pond and the natural dunesland at Asilomar. You will be enchanted by the abundance of natural wonders such as the plentiful Pacific Blacktail Deer, seals, sea lions, sea otters, pelicans and gulls.

Pacific Grove GC

Excellent conditions on the course throughout. Pace of play was good for an early start. Greens are slower than I recalled but in very good condition. The course offers a good challenge without being too penal. There are holes where you do need to stay in the fairway to be safe, particularly on the back 9 near the ocean. There are a few sensitive areas that are at the edge of the fairway, so if you are off the short grass you are OB and taking a drop. Back 9 becomes more difficult with more wind, but the views are great. Club House is nice but nothing spectacular, You play here for the views and the course. Lots of wild life on course (deer) A good value for the $$. A " Poor Man's Pebble Beach". Holiday Weekend rate was $74. Included cart and green fee. I play here 2-3 times a year.

Perfect day at Pacific Grove

My friends and I come to Carmel every year and love to play this quaint course .

It is usually very chilly and foggy but we had perfect weather conditions this year.

We love encountering all the wildlife as we go but sometimes they get right in the way of our shots .

Although the driving range is not much , the overall beauty of this course especially on the back nine makes up for it .

We will be back !

against my first thought

course was okay. Greens were slow on front and better on the back. we played in under 4 hours, even though we were behind a group of 6. the wind was tough on the back mine but the ocean views were fantastic. eleventh green was confusing as a group of right were trying to hit on 13 rather than their 11th. There was no Marshal to correct anything. Overall, I would rate it as average and a little pricey.

Some amazing ocean views on this course.

I’m from San Diego and we have Torrey Pines but some of the views on this gem of a course are wonderful. The staff and locals were a joy as well.

The greens were arrested and sanded...not worth the money to play sanded greens.

Course Condition

When booking this course thru Golfnow there was no mention the greens would be plugged and sanded. Could not putt. Very bad condition. Fairways are dry. Had a car show so hole 18 was turned into a 100 yard hole. Very disappointed with everything on the course. Management should have closed the course. Is it a golf course or a place to have a car show.

Great Course!

First time playing Pacific Grove. Took my 4 year old son, and the staff didn’t charge for him to ride with me. Pretty cool, most other places will. Pace of play was great, and the course was in great condition. Greens well cared for, almost no unfixed ball marks. Great views, and the price was well worth it. I would definitely recommend PG to anyone looking for a great course to play.

Great time

Our foursome had a great time. Our only issue was the continued work being done on #18.

Fun Course

My cousin and I drove down from Santa Cruz to play. We were paired with 2 great guys that really new the course. We had a great day and my cousin got a hole in one on the Par 3 213 yard 9th hole, which made day even more special. The pace of play was really good 4+ hours to play 18.

Birdies by the Bay

I brought my husband and another couple (their first time) I’ve wanted to share the course with my husband since I come here to play with my gal pals before our big tournament at Poppy Hills. They all enjoyed the course known as “Poor mans Pebble Beach”. The weather was perfect...not too cold. We had a 10:30 tee time. For a weekday it was a 5 hour round as expected. Lots of great photo opportunities with the lighthouse and ocean background. It’s a great course that we will all come back to play!
