Originally designed by Chandler Egan in 1932, the first nince holes takes you through the forested areas of Pacific Grove. Egan's nine takes you through an inland terrain and reflects much of the charm of an English rural course done in the old style.

The back nine was designed by Jack Neville, the original designer of the Pebble Beach Links. It opened in 1960, and is laid out in true links design over dunesland that approaches the sea.

Over looking the course is the Point Pinos Lighthouse. Built in 1855, it is the longest continuously operating lighthouse in California. It is a historical sentinel and picturesque landmark of the golf course.

A scenic tour of the dramatic coastline provides views of Lover's Point, Point Pinos, Crespi Pond and the natural dunesland at Asilomar. You will be enchanted by the abundance of natural wonders such as the plentiful Pacific Blacktail Deer, seals, sea lions, sea otters, pelicans and gulls.

Awesome! Lived up to expectations!

This is a great course! Front 9 completely different than back 9. Greens are tricky. Fairways in amazing condition. Views that make your eyes hurt. We had a blast! Pace of play was excellent. Bunkers could use a little work. Brakes on carts needed replacing. Otherwise, pretty perfect.

One time

It was USOpen week so the price gouging was on in the area. The course is a mini but conditions were fine in the fairway and around greens. The greens were smooth and not real speedy but adequate. It’s a one and done at the gouge prices but for the regular price it would be ok to play it again.

Good walk spoiled - Not!

Don't come here if you don't like beautiful views as you approach each tee and when you're looking for your lost ball. You won't be able to escape them, and you'll be really upset you came.

Amazing Round

I heard of all the hype surrounding Pacific Grove Golf Links and the hype was worth it. I never played the back nine and it truly felt I was up the road at Spanish Bay or Pebble. It is a timeless classic that I would recommend to all of my friends and I loved the narrow fairways because most kids want to bomb the course but here at PG you need to hit fairways. This was a 10/10 by far and it is a must play golf course for your Pebble Beach Trip!!

This course is known as the poor mans Pebble Beach

It is moderate in terms of difficulty and fairly short so is good iron practice. The back nine is along the coast and simply gorgeous. It was overcast and cool but I like that for golf.

Great course and scenery.

Great course and picturesque view of Pacific Ocean. Unfortunately, winds were consistently at 20 - 30+ mph so that kind of took away from trying to really score. But would definitely play this course again. Great staff!

Nice mix of Woodland and Links

This was the only course we played in Monterey, declining the exotic prices of Pebble Beach etc. We looked in on Sunday and it was VERY busy.

Monday was quiet and we teed off almost half an hour ahead of our pre-booked time. It was dull and windy and we finished in just over 3 hours, and before a short drizzly shower started.

The first 9 are all woodland, but fairly open. The tees, fairways and greens throughout are well-maintained, with a mix of slow and fast greens. The front 9 is a bit routine. The back 9, however, reminded me of The Turnberry in places and the wind played its part. It was pleasant, especially with the crashing waves down the side of some holes and the Lighthouse down others.

Altogether, we'd pla again - preferably on a warm, sunny day.

Great muni course

Wicked windy day, but great fun as usual. Carts are clean and run well. Staff very friendly. A few muddy areas from recent rains, but appreciate being able to take carts on to fairways.
