Originally designed by Chandler Egan in 1932, the first nince holes takes you through the forested areas of Pacific Grove. Egan's nine takes you through an inland terrain and reflects much of the charm of an English rural course done in the old style.

The back nine was designed by Jack Neville, the original designer of the Pebble Beach Links. It opened in 1960, and is laid out in true links design over dunesland that approaches the sea.

Over looking the course is the Point Pinos Lighthouse. Built in 1855, it is the longest continuously operating lighthouse in California. It is a historical sentinel and picturesque landmark of the golf course.

A scenic tour of the dramatic coastline provides views of Lover's Point, Point Pinos, Crespi Pond and the natural dunesland at Asilomar. You will be enchanted by the abundance of natural wonders such as the plentiful Pacific Blacktail Deer, seals, sea lions, sea otters, pelicans and gulls.

Average Course for the money.

The pace of play during our round was awful. The staff allowed far too many golfers on the back 9 where there were 2 groups waiting on every tee. No course marshals were out to monitor the pace of play. Great views but average course. Decent value considering the cost of other courses in the vicinity.

Hidden Gem

This is a beautiful course surrounded by the amazing coastline of Pacific Grove. The back nine has spectacular views. The course is not the most challenging or longest, but is fun to play no matter your skill level.

Great first experience!

This was my first time playing here, and it was well worth getting up early for and the money. Staff was awesome and they allowed my 4 year old son to ride with me. Very cool course with great ocean views all throughout the back nine. Tee’d off at 6:30 behind 4 groups of walkers, who literally flew around the course. After 2nd hole we never saw them again. Definitely will be making return trips.

Great Value and Views!

Two dramatically different 9s. Back nine offers excellent views of ocean on several holes. Good break from the other PB courses we played. My wife, a novice, loved PG.

A must-play

This course was recommended to me by traveling support staff for the PGA TOUR. It is a great Pebble value and has fantastic views. The staff was friendly and down to earth. We saw deer who didn't spook, and everyone knows how fantastic the ocean views are. I felt like I was playing in the 1970's. It's just a very relaxing and enjoyable place. Go play!

Pacific Grove GC

Excellent conditions on the course throughout. Pace of play was good for an early start. Greens are slower than I recalled but in very good condition. The course offers a good challenge without being too penal. There are holes where you do need to stay in the fairway to be safe, particularly on the back 9 near the ocean. There are a few sensitive areas that are at the edge of the fairway, so if you are off the short grass you are OB and taking a drop. Back 9 becomes more difficult with more wind, but the views are great. Club House is nice but nothing spectacular, You play here for the views and the course. Lots of wild life on course (deer) A good value for the $$. A " Poor Man's Pebble Beach". Holiday Weekend rate was $74. Included cart and green fee. I play here 2-3 times a year.

Perfect day at Pacific Grove

My friends and I come to Carmel every year and love to play this quaint course .

It is usually very chilly and foggy but we had perfect weather conditions this year.

We love encountering all the wildlife as we go but sometimes they get right in the way of our shots .

Although the driving range is not much , the overall beauty of this course especially on the back nine makes up for it .

We will be back !

against my first thought

course was okay. Greens were slow on front and better on the back. we played in under 4 hours, even though we were behind a group of 6. the wind was tough on the back mine but the ocean views were fantastic. eleventh green was confusing as a group of right were trying to hit on 13 rather than their 11th. There was no Marshal to correct anything. Overall, I would rate it as average and a little pricey.

Some amazing ocean views on this course.

I’m from San Diego and we have Torrey Pines but some of the views on this gem of a course are wonderful. The staff and locals were a joy as well.
