Holes 18
Type Public
Style Parkland/Links
Par 70
Length 5727 yards
Slope 113
Rating 67.9

Originally designed by Chandler Egan in 1932, the first nince holes takes you through the forested areas of Pacific Grove. Egan's nine takes you through an inland terrain and reflects much of the charm of an English rural course done in the old style.

The back nine was designed by Jack Neville, the original designer of the Pebble Beach Links. It opened in 1960, and is laid out in true links design over dunesland that approaches the sea.

Over looking the course is the Point Pinos Lighthouse. Built in 1855, it is the longest continuously operating lighthouse in California. It is a historical sentinel and picturesque landmark of the golf course.

A scenic tour of the dramatic coastline provides views of Lover's Point, Point Pinos, Crespi Pond and the natural dunesland at Asilomar. You will be enchanted by the abundance of natural wonders such as the plentiful Pacific Blacktail Deer, seals, sea lions, sea otters, pelicans and gulls.

Easy Holes / Super Challenging Greens

Very easy 60 minute travel to course from home. Beautiful 70 degree weather (The type of day that makes you happy to live in Nor Cal) clear blue skies. Staff was great, very helpful.

The double par 3 start is a bit different but it allows you a good opportunity to get the flow of your game. Actually, really liked that in hind sight. Front nine has some different type of holes in a non typical order. The scenery is really nice on the front 9 but you can feel there is going to be a build on the back.

Once you make the turn it becomes very apparent that you are going to be treated to something special. The back 9 has a number of holes with majestic Pacific Ocean views that is very much in the style of Pebble Beach.

The holes were more creative on the back 9. What I was most impressed with however was the condition of the greens through the entire course, which were in great shape and rolling very fast! Also, the subtle movements on the greens forced you to really study ball movement on most every putt. i had a couple of above the hole four footers that were real testers.

Would love to return to the course again down the road. Overall a great experience. The only con is the course comes up a bit short on yardage, but one should not let that be the deciding factor in playing this course.

The scenery is worth the green fees. Make certain to have a camera or smart phone with you for pictures.

Love This Course!

Normally when I am in Monterey I usually play the bigger courses, but after finding a Hot Deal for Pacific Grove I decided to give it a try. Great decision! Fun layout, beautiful views, and very well kept. Definitely worth playing, and more reasonably priced then the bigger name course in the area. I will definitely be playing here again.

Great Course

Best and nicest municipal course I've played in long time. Friendly grass for beginners. Nicely manicured greens and varied hole placements. Very nice staff. Will play this course more often.

What a ztrest

The first nine are inland and although the course is relatively short each hole is demanding. A few of the par 3's are over 200 yards from the blue tees. The back nine overlooks the ocean and is stunning This is the "Poor Mans Pebble Beach".

Meet some of the nicest on the course.

We were joined by a single gentleman who was the perfect playing partner. Very friendly and interesting to talk with.

The pace of play was very slow at just over 4-1/2 hours. We had to wait at just about every tee. We have played at longer courses at a much faster pace.

Beautiful View of Ocean

This was our 2nd time golfing this course. it was very windy on this visit, but otherwise the weather was great, the views of the ocean on many of the holes was worth the money. Long holes, but not unattainable for a rookie like me.

we would definitely golf here again.
