The Club at Crazy Horse Ranch (previously known as Salinas Golf & Country Club) in Monterey boasts a reputation as "the friendliest club in the area." Opened in 1925, it's also known as one of the area's oldest clubs though they are loathe to label themselves as "traditional". The golf course sprawls across rolling countryside dotted with mature trees and the occasional water hazard. Originally opened as a nine-hole layout, the golf course may appear somewhat short at just over 6,200 yards from the back tees but don't underestimate its level of difficulty. It's a tight layout that demands accuracy, especially when navigating the small greens. There is plenty of variety at The Club at Crazy Horse Ranch, you may even find yourself using all the clubs in your bag. The golf course finishes with a stunning view of Salinas Valley from an elevated tee. The fairway slopes downhill to a well protected green guarded on the left with trees and on the right with bunkers.

The course has scenic views of agricultural fields and the hills surrounding the area.

The course is truly a hidden gem. Do not be mislead by the yardage, the course is hilly and most of the holes play longer than listed. The greens were incredibly fast even after having some rain over the last day or two. The course is extremely well manicured and a complete joy to play!!!

First time I played Salinas Country Club, it did not disappoint, course was a good challenge and in great condition.

I enjoyed playing Salinas Country Club, the course was in great shape. Fairways well kept and greens were also in great shape. The Course is set in the middle of rich farmland with great views of tended fields. I felt like I was on an oasis playing golf with good friends. Service was excellent, staff friendly and accommadating. Can't wait to play there again.

Challenging and fun

Although shorter in length than the modern day designs, this course will require precision shotmaking to hit the small greens and a precise short game to get up and down on the slick greens. The greens were flawless and rolled true and rewarded a well struck putt. A good course to work on strategy and ball placement to be in position for the next shot. Lot of fun thinking your way around this track.

Very well-maintained and superb sandtraps.

This course is a country club and is very well-maintained. I was especially impressed with the great condition of the sand traps, which had real, fluffy sand. The cart paths (concrete) were wide and made getting from point to point very easy. The staff made me feel as if I were a member. Classy place.

great short course

a little hard to navigate the first time you play because there are no hole layouts on the card or tee box. the greens are really nice and true but small. the course is hilly and fun but short, the staff are really friendly and overall i would play it again.

Nice people, okay course

Fairways are very narrow with big trees, which presents the biggest challenge on the course. Several blind holes. Distances not well marked. Staff is very nice, and all facilities are available for use with the golfnow time (restaurant, etc.).
