About
The Championship 18 hole course and driving range contains 140 acres adjacent to Salinas Municipal Airport. The course is a par 72 with a Black Tee 71.9 rating, a Blue Tee 70.7 rating, a White Tee 69.4 rating, a Red Tee 69 rating and a Gold Tee 65.4 rating. In 1998 Golf Course Architect Steve Halsey, of Hlsey Darary Golf in La Mesa California redesigned the course for a complete renovation. Mr. Halsey is an accomplished California Golf Course Architect having provided architectural design for the following golf courses: The River Course at Alisal, Solvang; Coronado Municipal Golf Course; Balboa Park Municipal Golf Course; Salinas Golf & Country Club; Palo Alto Golf Course; Modesto Municipal Golf Course and El Segundo Golf Course.

Beautiful Golf Course
Majestic views of surrounding mountain ranges. Wide open fairways. Greens in good shape. Challenging winds. Friendly staff. Overall great value
Worst staff at any golf course anywhere
Great course for the value but the staff is beyond terrible. I’ll make this short and to the point....if you don’t like working with the public DONT work with the public. Whoever is running the cafe needs to be replaced ASAP. What a bad look for our city when we have the wrong people running our main public golf course. I would have gave negative stars if possible....yes...it’s thats bad!

Course is fair and forgiving and just difficult enough to keep you humble
Absorbs lots of rounds and greens are maintained well

Great Value, Fun Track!
Salinas Fairways is consistently in good shape, with great greens. The staff is always super friendly and helpful, the food in the clubhouse is tasty and the beer selection is solid. Pace of play was great, and we easily got in two rounds in under eight hours. Two thumbs up!
Municipal course
Some challenge holes, some easy holes. Windy conditions makes this course a challenge. Some holes favor the wind and some holes have the wind behind you. Front nine feels like a different course from the back nine. Would be happy to play again in the future.
Wide open spaces
Nothing fancy here but nice greens and the wind makes it challenging.
Fantastic Condition
The large rain really greened up this course. The staff have it fantastic condition- best condition I can remember
Good value
Greens are in good condition but golfers could be better at repairing ball marks. Most groups move at a good clip. Fairways looking pretty good. Course is flat and forgiving; for those of us beaten up on the tougher area courses, it’ a pleasant chance to regroup.
One of the best muni Courses in Monterey County
Great time no waiting perfect Friday afternoon on the course my only negative is what’s with the café stop there after nine all closed up found out they close at 3 PM makes no sense to me
Fair and challenging
A good mix of easy and difficult holes. It is easy to walk. Very level fairways. The pace of play can be slow. It is always crowded. Afternoons are not as bad.
Dry Conditions
With all the rain we've had lately the course was surprisingly dry. The bunkers were a little wet but that's understandable.
