Reviews
Course was wet but playable
After a couple of weeks of rain and a frost delay, the course was still playable. There were a lot of players out on the course, but pace of play was good with minimal waiting. Considering how wet it has been, there were no real problems.
I bought a round for 2 people with cart. We were told no carts today because of rain. I asked why it was not posted as such, he stated they posted it today. I asked about a pull cart and was told there are only two, I said that's all we need, he hesitated for a moment and my partner said he didn't need one. Course was in bad shape but could have allowed carts on paths and rough. We only played 9 holes due to conditions and health reasons.
Great track for the price
Well worth the price and drive. We travel about an hour from San Jose to play Salinas Fairways. The greens are the biggest attraction, always rolling true and fast.
Too many people
The shot gun start after the frost delay was a great idea. We started on the 14th hole and smooth sailing until we got to hole #10. We had a group of 7 golfers in front of us. Actually there were 5 golfers and 2 kids playing. The big delay was they let the kids hit fairway shots and putt. Our foursome didn't approach them but it was quite annoying to wait for them to get through the remaining holes. They didn't seem to mind that they were slowing everyone behind them.
Average layout with nice bent greens
Tee boxes could use some work, we were one of the first groups off, the fairway and green mower must have been behind us, there was dew everywhere. The fairways and greens are better than average considering the price to play.
Good value
Nice experience starts in pro shop with friendly staff- very accommodating. Course is pretty forgiving, being level. Wind does present some challenges, especially on back nine, as some par 4's become effectively par 5's for many of us. Greens are well maintained and roll pretty true. For me a fun course to play.
Course condition
The course is in great shape. I appreciate the hard work the maintenance crew exhibits everyday.
Good golf find
I had always seen this course on Golf Now since I moved to the Monterey area but I had never played here .
I was glad men friends from the area convinced me to come and try this course .
I was very pleasantly surprised by the condition of this muni course, from the tees through the fairways to the greens it is well kept and has a good variety of holes to play .
The staff in the pro shop has always been very helpful and the rates are very affordable hear .
Fun course to play.
Had a good time. Met some very friendly players. Price was just right. Plan to return again.
Fantastic and friendly
Great day. The gentleman in the pro shop comped me a bucket of balls since I opted not to take a cart. Great customer service. Best greens I’ve played in a long time. Will be back
Salinas Fairways is Fun
This is a wide open driving course. If you drive well, then this is a course where you can score below your index. Greens were good but very wet. The restaurant had the grumpiest employee I have come across anywhere in a long, long, time. My friend and I met to have breakfast before the round . I ordered French toast, he ordered a burrito. We were told there was no syrup and no salsa. Huh? This is Sunday morning!
Great place to tune in your shots
At 6800 yards from the white tee's, this is a great course to practice your approach shots fairway woods if needed. Always a bit windy on the back 9, but still forgiving and relatively open. The front plays a little tighter and is more technical than its counterpart.
Great muni
Been playing here for over fifty years. The greens are always fair and sometimes pro quality. Fun layout
Fun
The course is in great shape, Fun layout where you can hit and go.
Fun Course to play.
The course is in good shape. The wind made the course a real challenge to play today.
Awesome
Playing partner and I had an awesome round. Could not believe the greens and how true they were. Groundskeepers are doing an awesome job
